Did y'all hear his comments about President Bush and "attrocities" being committed by the US? I am sick and tired and tired of sick of people we've helped in the past act like we're villainous - Germany, France, Nelson Mandella... I say forget the world, the UN and all that, and do the right thing. And, while we're at it, how 'bout us not sending so much money overseas to help ingrates!

Keep the money here to help our own children, elderly, homeless, and ill citizens. I just don't understand why we send BILLIONS all over the world when our own citizens are suffering.

We are a minority among the world (5% of the world population). The truth is that the USA has more opportunity and uses its vast resources to its advantage more than most coutries AND those countries who are the "have nots" want what we have built.

And, they will do whatever it takes to get a piece of what the USA has. That includes outright lying and slander of our country and its citizens.

Hmmm. That'd be a good question for the man - he didn't give examples I don't believe.

Maybe we need to reread what Mandela has suffered through and the principles he stood for through years of imprisonment. We support our president because his tough stance will bring Saddam to his knees. Mandela isn't required to do that. If our tough stance fails and we actually attack another nation, then we lose our high moral ground. That is something very dear to most Americans. GW's willingness to maintain his position will work. However, not everyone on earth can be expected to see it that way. When it turns out to be successful and peace prevails, then the U.S. will regain the respect of many who may be uncomplimentary during this time.

Aub, when you have a bunch of sissies in the UN there is no tough stand from anybody but us. When Sadam hasn't followed his end of the bargain after we chased him out of Kuwait, why should we "act tough" forever and wait for him to sell his wares to the bad guys and let 'em sneak it over here and wipe us out. We don't lose our high moral ground on this war whatsoever. The world has turned into wimps because they think that if they fight back the terrorists will come after them - well, they will either way. They're jealous of our way of life - or just hate it - and that won't change. And, I'm sorry, but I have not desire for us to change it to their liking to prevent that. So, we're left with a choice to be strong or just letting them keep coming after us or intimidating us into thinking they're coming after us.

We've been good to Mandella. He isn't an American and doesn't have to have the national pride that we should, but he has a moral obligation as we all do to speak the truth. I want to hear about these alleged attrocities - what are they?

You would have to do some research to find out what Mandela was referring to. Haven't there been recent media reports about events led by a prominent Democrat during the Vietnam War?

Has the US been guilty of past transgressions? Absolutely! Here are a few:

we took land, militarily, from the Indians. The US army could beat the Mohawk, Seminole, Cherokee, Choctaw, Apache, Sioux, etc armies....so we did.

the US wanted territory in the southwest that belonged to Mexico. So, we picked a fight with them, in 1846, then kicked their butts and siezed their property (west Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and other lands)

The US decided to violate its own law of the land, the Constitution, and attacked another nation, the Confederate States of America, again siezing property that, at that point, belonged to someone else. Also during that time, the great prez, Abe Lincoln, was afraid of an Indian uprising in the midwest, mostly in Minnesota, so he ordered the hanging of "malcontents" without a trial or proof of guilt. Over 300 Indians were murdered before a public outcry put an end to it.

And that is just a few of the 19th Century examples.

80, I think Markay knows about the old days. She wants to learn what atrocious things we have done recently. You can't brag about the past forever!

    Speaking of Jessie...

Did you see who was first to appear on the scene of the Chicago, stampede deaths... None other than the the "minister of extortion"!! Now, it is coming out that he has ties to the owners of the bar, that had orders to clean up it's act or close down... How sad that those folks had to die, for no reason...

Mandela needs a swift kick in the pants too...
