They are 9-11 with some decent wins. Kent State won the first two of a three game series against them.
Looks like a pretty good chance of showers at 6:00pm, but I figure we will get it in.
Questions...Did we get a new right fielder/1st baseman based on one at bat? When will we nail down our Friday night guy?
I’m hoping Safford isn’t going to one-swing his way back onto the field. His longer term strikeouts history doesn’t warrant that. It’s true and unfortunate that Comeaux’s contacts haven’t paid off in more hits, but the contact has been solid. Being that Burroughs has tapped into his redshirt he better use him full time. As for Burroughs’ Friday night starter, who knows? Sometimes I’m not so sure he plays the Friday game with his pitcher being the key part. More often I think he’d rather win that game with hitting and defense and then out pitch the competition Saturday and Sunday.
That sums up his pitching strategy for the last 8 years. He’s the only coach I know who uses a pitcher other than his best on Friday. He did the same in his first 2-3 years when he had great pitching left over from Ostrander’s coaching. BTW, Comeaux only has 2 or 3 Ks in the last stretch.

They call the game 30 minutes before and the only way of knowing was X. I looked at the radar at 4:30 and saw that it would be raining from 6:00 till probably 8:00.

These are the best two teams in CUSA, DBU for sure, and SHSU is looking really good too.
Burroughs slowly but surely coaching the Dawgs into trouble after a 12-1 lead. It all started going bad when he put Safford in for Comeaux after Grant got. 2 out double to start a 7 run eruption. Don’t mess with success knucklehead.
Add Harland to the don’t play him list. He’s another one of Burroughs unaccomplished favorites.
Safford strikes out looking after he got Myers thrown out stealing by not protecting him. Burroughs inability to coach even in the simplest situations sucks.
I will from this point on now refer to him as coach Lame Brain (LB). He has demonstrated that the guys that coached me over 30 years ago in Dixie ball had a better grasp of strategy than he does.

Two good wins for the Dawgs and some really strong performances from a number of different players. Keep it team and make a sweep of it. There can’t be any letdown.
It's all about pitching.
Southern Miss we had an L w/4 runs, L w/3 runs, and a W w/18 runs.
NSU we had an L w/5 runs (you know the rest)
Laff we had an L w/5 runs
lsu we had an L w/1 run.
We were facing good pitching in all these losses other than NSU.
Bottom line is we will have to get hot in the tournament to have a chance at a regional and hope what little pitching we have stays healthy.
