Just wonderig if anyone knows the details on who has been signed, and who Coach Sim is waiting on to send in their papers. And what positions they play and that kind of stuff. Is there another board on the internet that ya'll visit, because it just seems that there is really low traffic on this page, I mean most of the time scores of the games aren't even posted. Just wondering if I am missing something. Thanks for the help.

They just posted an article on latechsports.com about all of the signees and it looks like a really good class. 13 signees in all (fall included) plus Zach Myatt from the football team. Three great recruiting classes so far-Football, Basketball, and now Baseball.

LOTS of pitchers coming in-that is a good sign. Coach Sim talks about all of the late signees in the article check it out.

7 of the 13 newcomers will be FR straight out of HS and 6 sound like talented JC players, some who will get drafted. Sounds like a great start.

Numbers don't make players. Will be interesting to see exactly how many can actually play at this level next year. If half can, that will be an improvement.

I hope we are ONLY recruiting players that we think can play at this level. Some are FR so they probably won't be able to play immediately, but I know what you're saying. Time always tells.

I know that Coach Simoneaux received a verbal committment from Blake Burns of East Ascension High School in Gonzales. This year he is 12-0 and had a similar record as a junior. I have seen him pitch several times this year. He can bring it, he doesn't waste time and he is a very strong durable pitcher, usually goes the distance in almost all of his games. I think he will be in the starting rotation. He just needs to sign on the line. I would also think he may be drafted in the upcoming draft.

Well it's official, Blake Burns, of East Ascension High School in Gonzales, a strong right handed pitcher, signed on the line Wednesday. (Simoneaux's alma mata.) Burns is 12-0 this season. I don't know any of his stats but from the games that I have seen he has probably averaged about 7-10 strike outs per game. He has real good control, a tremendous curve and off speed pitch. He works real fast on the mound and he can go the distance. He will be in the running for a starting job next season.

Rumor was two weeks ago that Burns was going to walk on at LSU. Way to go Wade, great signee for you and the university.

Blake Burns pitched another complete game today against Covington in the 5A State Playoffs. He is now 13-0 on the year and he struck out 13 batters today. He's good.

Shhhhh. Let's hope this guy doesn't get snapped up in the upcoming MLB draft ala our pitcher signee from Marshall, TX- the #9 pick overall.

Some more information on another LaTech Baseball signee, Steve Soper, a catcher from Parkview Baptist in Baton Rouge. In yesterdays playoff game, Soper went 4 for 4 with 4 RBI's. In the bottom of the 10th Soper hit a home run that may still be going.
It definitely went over 400 feet. The report is that when that home run was hit the ball has two flat spots, one from the bat and one from the landing. All eyes turn to Coach Simoneaux who happened to be watching two of his signees, because they knew he's got a good one.

When Simoneaux was hired I commented on the board that LaTech baseball was going to get good. Fans you had better get your season tickets early. Soon it will be time for RESERVED seating!!!!! Go Wade!!

Hey Admins. Can we move some of this over to the secure recruiting folder?
