But after the Detroit Shock dropped its second preseason game to Minnesota, 72-64, on Wednesday, coach Laimbeer had only good things to say, most of them about his first-round draft pick, forward Cheryl Ford.

Ford scored 21 points and pulled in so many rebounds that the makeshift stat crew at the Birch Run Expo Center must have lost track. The final box score said she had six, but the consensus among those watching was that she had 15.

"This is the Cheryl you will see the rest of the season," Ford said.

Cheryl just made a rookie mistake. There are some veterans that will cut that line out and post it on their lockers.

"I thought you said this was the Cheryl we would see all season?"

Maybe there is a thin line between cocky and confident. But she has the ability to be both and back it up!
