While waiting to see Ronny today I met a 79 Tech grad Charile (chip) Thompson who has a web site called www.webtailgate.com. And without going into detail they set up for the Tech OSU game in Shreve last year and have the Tech Miami game on for this year and the LSU game...best thing is to go to their website to find out about the food and fun....He told me that he sent this info to Miami on their alumni site and has over 5,200 responses which could mean (if all are couple tickets) over 10,000 coming in for tailgating alone at this area...this is a non profit company arm of his parent company which is sports related...he drove in from Atlanta today to see Jim O....it's a tailgate party for hire for the VISITING teams--so they have a big party waiting for them at the games--cool idea ... anyway all that's to say that it looks like La will have a strong Hurricane reaching to Shreveport in August...just from those that have bought tickets to Miami's tailgate party. BTW it's 35 a head--55 for a couple -check out the web site for all the food they have..

At any rate, hats off to Charlie Thompson. Any promotion of a Thursday night Tech game event, while school is closed but on tv, is a MUCH APPRECIATED effort!!!!

Most of them so called Miami fans are going to be from this state(sad to say). They will be wearing their brand new Miami stuff that they picked up from the local Wal-mart. They have just made room in the closet at home the last two years by getting rid of all the Florida St. stuff and Neb. "Huskers" apparel.

This game is the ideal dream for the bandwagers to actually get the chance to see Miami in person and see first hand that they are not some made up team that is put on T.V everyday and Lusted over by Lee Corso and friends.

I bet there will be many Louisiana Folks cheering for the caines on Aug 28. As for me, I don't care how many National Champs they won or whos their QB, I just hope the Dawgs Kick some A@#.

P.S- Did anyone notice Miami has the same colors as "Churches Chicken". And what the heck is the stupid looking bird for when the are named after a storm.

My impression was that was number of sales...but there was about 4 people standing around talking and we were looking at his website at the secretary's computer and I was walking into Ronny's office....so he could have meant inquiries -- JIm would know best cause he met with him later on and I'm sure he told Jim the figures -- I'll call Jim and try to find out for sure.

Shreveport is closer to Miami (and Florida) that Tucson...tickets are much cheaper...airfare is cheaper...casinos are available...and Miami likely has a considerable alumni base in the drivable southeast and southwest...they'll have as many fams in Shreveport as OK State had...if not more!

the Ibis mascot is actually one of the cool things that scUM has done. according to legend the Ibis is the last bird to leave before a hurricane (i guess that means they are smart enough to get into UM) and are the first bird to return after the storm.
