"The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand would have been another good selection for that list.
BTW, what would be on the Left Wing Pinko list? The "Communist Manifesto"?
Communist Manifesto is a nice executive summary ... but the real meat is in Capital (Das Kapital).
"A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn would be an interesting read for a leftist, but I found it a tad too depressing.
It was Michael Parenti's Democracy for the Few that first swung me the left.
Austin, did you every finish War and Peace?
I did. I finished it about a month ago. It was a good read, but I wouldn't recommend it for everyone, light reading it isn't. Particularly, Tolstoy's essays on history at the end of the book bordered on the, shall we say, loquacious.Originally Posted by Soonerdawg
