Pretty good summary of what several threads on this board have discussed since the MWC and TCU didn't make any moves before the holidays. Stories with Nashville datelines could be very interesting reads over the next 4-5 days.
Regardless of what insider says, I believe we will get screwed by C-USA once again.
If we get left out it will be because we screwed ourselves. The lack of commitment to have a legitimate 1-A program is obvious to everyone.Originally Posted by killerdawg

Sorry, but this is one-sided
If you had kept up with the short history of the league, you would know that quality of a member school's athletic program has not been high on their list of priorities.
It's been all about metropolitan (translated to "tv") coverage.

The fact that Louisiana Tech is NOT in a top TV market only makes it MORE IMPORTANT that we WIN often. Unlike SMU or Rice, Tech can't afford to sit back and rely on it's "market size" to gain entry to CUSA. Tech has to produce ON THE FIELD and build a reputation as a QUALITY program.
That's exactly how LA Tech gained a WAC invite back in 1999. It was the QUALITY of our athletic programs --in particular football, with 2 quality wins over Alabama in 3 years and a 9-2 record in 1997 and an 8-3 finish in 1999-- that allowed Tech to be an attractive option to the WAC.
Louisiana Tech will NEVER have a huge media market, so we have to rely on the 2nd best thing: QUALITY PROGRAMS! I sure hope Oakes and Reneau understand this.

Entry into the WAC was based on our having a quality program. That's my point.Originally Posted by HogDawg

We won't get selected because we are in Ruston - period.
Absolutes in life are few. I hope NO WAY never becomes one of them. Avoiding death and taxes are the only things in that category so far. And the very poor and very rich seem ALMOST to be able to cut the list in half. The sales tax gets to everyone!
