I thought it was a foolish extension -
What has he proved? What has he achieved?
If anything the program has taken a step back

We need to just have a blanket rule no extensions, they won't keep a big school from taking a good coach from us, but they have the effect of helping us keep average to bad coaches. If a coach does well, we can award/reward them with a new contract when the old one is done. Simply tell all coaches this upfront. It wouldn't change who stays, leaves or is stolen one bit.
We aren't stealing a coach or buying someone's contract out to come here. The state of college athletics going forward for schools like us are hiring young hot coaches from a lower level or a decent assistant from a somewhat bigger school... but they are only here if or until they have success then they are gone.
I have no problem with an extension after a conference regular season championship or a tournament championship or NCAA at large bid
Outside of that have to really be knocking on the door of something special to consider at ONE year extension with no bonus
A losing first year followed by a choke of a second year with a ONE & DONE in the conference tournament doesn't constitute basis for an extension

With the way college athletics is going and the level that everyone will be playing at except for about 40 programs, I don't think they make much financial sense for schools outside of that top group. I could see extension for making the NCAA's in your sport, like you said 1 year etc. Winning the regular season or conference tournament is what they are being paid for. It's just part of the season 99% of the time. We have proven winning the regular season doesn't help get you anywhere other than where we already are.
I get where you are coming from. I could see a bonus for winning a conference tournament, and 1 year extension for NCAA. I mean the only way we will get into the NCAA's in most sports is to win the conference tournament anyway. The game is rigged so even if the small conferences really are a 2 or 3 bid contender, they will really only have a shot at 1 to 2 at most, 9 out of 10 years. Baseball is the least of rigged games left.
Potential for some decent opponents. At least it's not a road MTE vs. Alabama A&M, Samford & TN Southern.

What is a Rust College?
Three non D1 opponents -
You can't tell me NWSt or ULM wouldn't of jumped at a chance for a home and home
Or any regional SWAC - school G-fam and JSU come to mind
I'm ok with one non DI program and that program should be Centenary
Lazy lazy scheduling
