Ummm.... Groom the players at Ruston High and send them down the street to Tech. Could this be a sign of who our next Def. Cord. might be. Just a thought. I think Pat will be able to do some great things a Ruston.
What a great hire by my alma mater!! People are already talking about buying season tickets. He's yet to coach a game but there's plenty of excitement and alot of expectations about Collins at RHS. Maybe, there is a god and this is just part of a conspiracy, to bring him into Ruston, in a holding pattern to get rid of the Yankee next year and Pat won't have to move very far to assume the reins of the Dawgs...
Say what you want re. the NLU days... He kicked Tech's ass, pretty much every year and made us like it!!! He's a damn good football coach that should have had a chance in Ruston, long before now... Nobody hated NLU more than me, either... Let bygones be bygones!!!!
Hurry up and let this year pass, so we can suck and get it over with....

By the time he gets the program back to the respectable level it deserves he will be 67. He is 62 now and was just looking for a way to get back to his farm in Calhoun.
Hopefully he will hire the next head coach during his tenure to ensure a smooth transition when he decides to hang them up for good.

What I would like to see is someone entice Pat to join this board and 1) give us some additional professional insight and 2) defend himself. I'll bet the "clock comments" would soon disappear. Any couple that can get through that deal spread out all over the newspapers deserves a break.
Why would he come to this board? It's supposed to be for fans of Louisiana Tech athletics.
1) To suck up to an obviously powerful and influential group of fans who could help him get on at Tech if he so desires 2) To provide relief from MT and his ilk's rather boring view of life as a public service

I suspect there was some pressure brought to bear on the school board not to confirm him. There is still some bad feeling among some in Ruston about Pat Collins.
