Duke is #1 in the region.
Game 1 is against Montana on their own court on Saturday.
The winner plays the Texas Tech/Maine winner.
(edited to change the game day from Sunday to Saturday)
I"m pleased...We're a #5 and it looks like this might be the best possible path for us
Games are Saturday and Monday in Missoula.
For those who wanted a 5 seed, it's Montana at home, Texas Tech, Duke, and either Kansas State or BC if the higher seeds win.
All winnable games, but at the same time all loseable..
I doesn't matter where the game is played, home court can only do so much for you, Montana is going down hard and that will take care or home court advantage, then the Techsters will beat up on an injured TT squad, then we will show Alana Beard why she will graduate without a NCAA title and that she should have gone to Tech.Originally Posted by FriscoDawg
Not bad at all. We deserved (despite rpi) a higher seed, but this is a workable path. Frisco is right. These are all winnable. I am pumped. If we had to have a 5, then this was the place to be. How do you think Penn State feels having to be a #1 seed in Hartford against UConn?
LSU wound up as a #4. Why send us to Missoula when they could have had a much more attractive game (read: $$$ in ticket sales) in BR is beyond me.
LSU fans are upset that you guys aren't in their region, too. It'd be a great game.
I agree you should have had a higher seed.
I agree, both Tech and NW State should have been sent to BR. I don't care if that meant NW State being a #13, it shoulda been done.
Okay, who knows anything about Montana? If they don't have big, athletic post players the Techsters will make short work of them.
Looking them up right now. :-)
Montana looks like a sorority basketball team - Tech rolls by 40+

Man, that is a long link. Someone tell me if it works.
They do have some height. They played Texas and got completely hammered by a large margin. They have been beaten by teams like Gonzaga. Their Center is the second leading scorer on the team.
Final Four pairings are Midwest vs West and Mideast vs East

Obviously the committee wanted to avoid a rematch of last year. That is part of the guidelines that the committee can use--I just wasn't sure it would.Originally Posted by SpaceDawg
If we can get through Montana and then, probably, Texas Tech, we go to Virginia to meet Duke. That is IF Duke can get past ODU in the second round. If the can't, we will meet ODU in the S16 on their home court.
