Champs! 41 wins!
Champs! 41 wins!
@MattBellison: Lane Burroughs on postgame radio: "People say, 'Tech gonna Tech'. Well, that's Tech gonna Tech. That's how we do it."
@MB: LATech has nine 40-win seasons in program history. Three have come within the last four years under Lane Burroughs
One item checked off the list, one accomplishment: regular season champions. Great job!
A few weeks ago we were looking fairly mediocre and were staring at 9 games vs. the other top teams in the conference: DBU, WKU, Liberty with six of those on the road. Dawgs went 8-1 in those nine games.
Now, step 2, the conference tournament. Maybe the Dawgs are already in the playoffs, many people think so. Okay, great. But last time we hosted the conference tournament we came up short. Win it!
Regionals...have never advanced past the regionals before. This is a heavily senior-laden team, the time is now. And if we reach the Super Regionals, might as well win that too. On to Omaha!
Go Dawgs!
If you’re such a big fan where have you been all year blowing your horn for Burroughs? What kind of supporter is it that doesn’t stand out cheering after losing 2 of 3 to NMS but then suddenly shows up when it’s all over with? Be honest and own your part time fair weather fandom.
Talent can succeed in spite of coaching sometimes, and he has cost us more games than he has won us with his decisions. This doesn’t change anything. Everyone is entitled to their own feeling about his abilities.
Are you satisfied?
I'm impressed with the run this team has made and hope it continues.
As LB has said several times in the past, (paraphrase) "Our goal is to make it to a Super Regional"
The only thing that can keep us out of a regional at this point is going 0-2 next week. We can all celebrate 41 and regular season champs until Wednesday.
This statement should have been saved to when LB was checked into a hotel in Omaha.
Still plenty of opportunity to "Tech things up."
Personally, I think our mediocre-at-best pitching will be our shortcomings. Especially Bates as our go-to closer. Sorry, I just don't share the confidence others, including LB, have in Bates. Broderson is good but tends to forget what the strike zone is. Big Jorge behind the plate does his level best to help our pitchers by "framing" every pitch he can. But, sheesh! how many times do we start an inning getting the first two guys out and then Wham! can't seem to close the inning? THROW EFFING STRIKES! If they hit it, they hit it. There is no defense for walks and HBP.
Look...I think the Diamond Dawgs are good, damn good. Teddy Allen likes to say, "this is a hard game," and it certainly can be. Hell, if you fail at the plate 70% of the time you end up in the Baseball Hall of Fame! Ya know, the camera was on LB when Hubka decided to walk three straight Liberty batters just so he could strike out the next guy with the bases loaded. You could see LB agonizing over every pitch out of the strike zone. I was feeling his pain during that too!
BTW, kudos to Hubka and Swistak on a good job. Liberty has a weak offense but holding them to one run, that on a solo HR over 9 innings is a good job.
I think LB is a dern good recruiter but seems lost at times during games. Maybe not...but seems that way sometimes. Speaking of recruiting, how does he replace all these seniors?
Go Diamond Dawgs! On to Omaha!!!
I mean this will all sincerity, your a full blown moron. I mean I've never seen anything like it in my life, you and Pawdawg get on here daily and make yourselves look like the biggest idiots and you two high school drop outs don't even know it.
Many of us said back in March that we would get to 41 wins on the year and you would have thought Barack Obama entered the chat. Seriously, just save us the misery and leave your hot takes at home until you educate yourself on the game. Yes, the full measure of a season is conf tournament champions and a regional we all know that. We don't need you two blow hards to tell us.
LB has done a hell of a job this year as expected. Excited for what's to come the rest of the way.
You didn’t answer my origin questions. Why is that? It’s not too late smart guy. Tell us what you know about baseball that nobody else knows. Some people who don’t have any real life competitive history, evidently like you can’t differentiate between coaching skills and player skills. Believe it or not they’re not the same thing. If you knew even the most fundamental thing about baseball you’d know that the Tech players as individuals are a lot better at what they contribute to the team’s successes than what Burroughs and his staff contribute. Burroughs does he best work in the radio interviews which isn’t really saying much. He recently said it himself that he’s worn out sharpies writing the lineup cards.
