"Non-BCS" off to a good start!

    BYU over Notre Dame
    Utah over Texas A&M
    Louisville over Kentucky
    Memphis over Ole Miss
    UAB over Baylor
    Troy over Missouri
    Fresno St over Washington
    Boise St over Oregon St

We are making a strong case for inclusion in the BCS so far! But, we still have a long way to go in generating funds like they do.

I'd venture to say that if we were in the BCS, we'd generate the funds that some of them do. If we were in the Big 12 instead of Baylor, or the SEC instead of Vanderbilt or Kentucky, we wouldn't be having the budget discussions that we are.

you'd be surprised. average attendance per the NCAA website for 2003

Kentucky: 64,922 (WOW, much bigger than expected)
Vandy: 28,282 (a drop of 3909 from the previous year)
Baylor: 29,851 (some inflation from road teams, but i doubt many road teams bring more than 10K)
    TECH: 20,778

you may be right about Vandy and Baylor, but NOT about UK.

some of the bigger Mid Majors :icon_wink attendance figures

BYU: 61,501 (good job cougars! best of the Non BCS bunch)
Pitt: 59,197 (only a matter of time before the big east loses its BCS bid)
Hawaii: 40,791 (best in the WAC)
Memphis: 38,668 (best in the new C-USA)
Miami (OH) 25,132 (best in the depleated MAC)
Miami (FL) 25,132 (after a loss)
Troy: 20,899 (best in the Sunbelt)
Notre Dame: 80,795 (last week's win not withstanding, has the dome lost its shine?)

bandwagon alert - USC: 77,804 (up over 10,000 from the previous year)
bandwagon alert part 2 - Miami: 58,135 (DOWN over 10,000 from previous year)

Re: "Non-BCS" off to a good start!

There is no doubt in my mind that if we were in the Big 12 or the SEC, we would average 30k easily which would eliminate many of our budget problems. Not only would football attendance increase, but so would our other sports. Also, think of the basketball revenue we would get. Yep, I stand by what I said. We wouldn't have the budget worries we have now if we were in the Big 12 or SEC.

Question Re: "Non-BCS" off to a good start!

That is a catch 22, we cant get into the big 12 or SEC because we do not have the 30,000. But we can dream.
