Nitz to Serve as Honorary Captain

RUSTON - Longtime Louisiana Tech broadcaster Dave Nitz will serve as the honorary captain for Saturday's game between the Bulldogs and the UTEP Miners set to kickoff at 2 p.m.
Nitz is in his 30th season as the Voice of the Bulldogs after beginning his career at the university in 1974 (Nitz missed the 1983-84 year while working full-time with a minor league baseball team in Oklahoma City).
The West Virginia native will be broadcasting his 1,632nd Tech sporting event Saturday, including football, men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball.
In addition to providing the play by play for Tech football, men's basketball and baseball this year, Nitz was also the radio broadcaster and media relations director for the Shreveport Sports, an independent minor league baseball team in the Central Baseball League.Go get 'em Nitzer!

Good point. Encourage those around you in the tailgate area to head into the stadium and be in their seats well before kickoff. On the tape of the Fresno game the east side looked real empty at the start of the game, but had filled in very well a few minutes into the game.

My favorite play . . . any play that ends in, "You gotta love it!"
