He is winning with a talent depleted team this year. The only bright spot is their QB. He knows how to win and he isn't going to be in Valdosta forever.

If we had to hire a coach now, I would like to see Randy Shannon hired. But we do not. And we will not, if at all, until after the season. If JB beats Boise and/or Hawaii he stays. It is going to be an interesting month for everyone!
If Tech is not bowl eligible considering the start of the season, that should determine whether a change should be made. That means a 3-1 finish is mandatory. Simply beating either Boise or Hawai'i isn't enough without wins over both Tulsa and Rice.Originally Posted by hookdown
It isn't Bicknell's fault we didn't beat UTEP. It is the Alabama athletic director's fault.

It's Bicknell's job to get the Tech team to put forth the best possible effort regardless of the opponent. That didn't happen today, so it IS his fault.
What Alabama did or didn't do regarding a coach is irrelevant, since today's effort might not have beaten a Gary Nord-coached UTEP team. A similar effort almost didn't result in a win last year in El Paso.
Our passing game today looked like we were playing sandlot football. You go long and I'll throw you one.
I think you made a typo... I think it should be "underthrow" or "bounce."Originally Posted by DONW

I agree, but I think the admin would be content with a win over either of those two. I personally think we need to win them all, but what do I know?Originally Posted by RealityCheck
Chris Hatcher is a very smart and good coach. He was an academic all-American at QB when he played for Hal Mumme at Valdosta. He is in his 6th year and has lost a total of 8 games. He started this year with very few starters coming back, but has only lost one game to #1 Albany State on a last second field goal. He took over the head coaching job at Valdosta when he was only 27 years old. We would do well if we could hire this guy.
First, there is a major obstacle that has to be kicked out of the way. And this major obstacle has nowhere else to go, 'cause nobody wants him ??Originally Posted by DONW
We needed a change after last season (actually, before), and we didn't get it.
Worst move in the history of LA Tech football program was extending the term of the major obstacle's contract after the 2001 season.

We were beaten by a school who pays their headcoach in Rick's Bucks.Originally Posted by aubunique
Bicknell will have a 31-40 record at the end of this season after 6 seasons and only 2 winning seasons. also, he took over a winning program and he has gone downhill. No one comes to watch a loser. We can't afford to keep him. We also need a coach that will get out and get the fans interest up. You can't do that when you live in the northeast for most of the summer when you should be out selling your program to the fans.Originally Posted by nadB
Agreed that we don't need some jackoff, frolicking around in Maine (or wherever) during the summer, prior to the season; instead of being in Ruston getting prepared.Originally Posted by DONW
