A difference? Probably not. Not enough of a difference to matter, in a best-case scenario.

It's going to be interesting to see what the average attendance is going to be.
And don't include the teams, band, cheer leaders, concession workers, the scoring table and/or other game management etc. In other words, anyone required to be at the game should not be included in the attendance numbers. Ticket sales that are not in attendance also should not be counted. In other words, I want to know the butts in the chair to watch the game number. My guess from last season is maybe 500 – 800.

    It’s Brook’s last contract year.

It’s telling there has been no effort on the AD to get it renewed.

Smart business decision, and one that our admins have lacked in the past. See what happens with the season and then move on if that's the route they want to go, and it costs us relatively little to nothing. Another season lack the past won't really hurt the physical attendance, etc. and its better than a buyout or an extension.

Question: If all of the assistant coaches get fired except the Head Coach's hubby, is there a discrimination lawsuit in this?

If we didn't get sued over the Tyler Summit situation they are not getting sued over this -

I applaud them for not throwing more good money after bad and letting the contract play out

In the grand scheme of things wbb means about as much as volleyball these days at our level

Yeah, Lady Techster Basketball that used to be is no more. The current reality is since the Big Colleges were forced to spend money on it through Title IX, we will never again be at a place to be remotely competitive. As DfM says, its about as much a draw as Volleyball now. Let it go. Maybe you get an up and coming JUCO coach in next year that produces a few good years before getting hired away, but stop trying to be something we aren't anymore. If Summit was the coffin, then the Stoehrs were the six feet of dirt on top of the coffin. The program is buried.

    Spoon was the coffin

Summit was the 6 ft of dirt

It was long buried before Brooke arrived on campus

I agree, I don't blame Brooke for anything other than being average at best against average at best competition. Spoon was the nail. Summit was 6ft of manure. He does all he did and just gets to live off his mom's UT pension payments for the rest of his life. I was amazed that there weren't attorneys lined up outside the TAC for 30% of whatever they could have gotten for as little work as it would have taken.

Yes, WBB at Tech is in the same boat as all other women's sports: softball, volleyball, soccer, etc. Run clean programs, graduate players, and do the best we can on the floor (field). Any successes, like maybe winning a conference title once in a while, should be celebrated and appreciated.

Oh how the mighty have fallen . . .

Your comments are right on track – what the Techsters experienced during the `80s and early `90s is long over. As well as most of the fans that followed the program back then. So many of the fans that supported the program financially as well as traveling to wherever during the `80s have long died off. For most people even the memories of those days’ history are unknown. It’s quite amusing to overhear conversations at games as to how little most in attendance actually know about the program, especially, the current student body.

So yes, it’s time for all to accept that women’s basketball at Louisiana Tech is just another women’s sport. And dare I add, sports that exist thanks to the revenue created by the football and men’s basketball programs.

Attendance of 500-800 is a generous and optimistic number for most games. Some games last year had no more than 200 at tipoff: I counted a few times when the fans looked sparse. I'll do a few more hand counts this season. Mrs. Russdawg and I will be two of them: Tech games are date night for us. Drive over to Ruston, eat out, go to the wbb and mbb games.

    Re: House Cleaning

I guess my question to both Jbgood57 and Russdawg is "Does it have to remain that way?" Yes, I agree that based on what I've seen, there is little to no support and certainly little to no fanbase for WBB. I believe the cherished hero on this board, Brooke and hubby, placed the final nails in the coffin under her head coaching job. But, and this is a big if, if we got a decent coach.......... a hungry assistant from somewhere other than Northwestern, McNeese, or other local high schools, and started building the program again from the ground up, do you think people of Ruston and surrounding areas would still stay home? I submit that everyone stays home now because frankly, there is nothing to see. Brooke can't coach and she won't produce results. Until they bounce her out of the HC job, nothing will happen. But getting a whole new leadership in there and being honest.......... we are building a program from ground zero, do you still think no one would show up and support? I remember when my kids went to Texas A&M and as they were trying to build fan support, mainly from the students, they had students scan their sports passes and if they successfully attended a women's soccer game and other women's sports, they were entered into a lottery for neat stuff that the kids wanted. Low and behold, they found that the product was exciting, they had a good time, and therefore, kept coming back. I have to believe once we get new leadership and a decent coach, with a little excitement, we can get beyond the 500 per game.

    We Need a "Like" button

jycww - Deep in my LaTech heart - I hope you are right.

Scrap it and start over with NEW blood and an administration that wants and supports a successful program.
    We NEED another FJ Taylor!
