Post Central Arkansas Makes Commitment To Athletics

There is an article on ESPN, about how UCA is over 10,000 students and the president and AD think its time to move forward from division II to 1-AA. Not necessarily a big time school, but another school spending money to advance. The article talks about how much they will have to spend to make the jump etc.

We just don't have the type of leadership to be competitive.

They've got an uphill battle if the ultimate goal is to be in I-A. Those hog fans are just as dedicated and devoted as Tiger fans.

Is former Tech OC Clint Conque still head coach at UCA? How has he been doing? I haven't heard very much noise from UCA in recent years, but I don't follow D-II all that much.

As long as they hang out in Div1-AA for a while they will be ok. It isn't like UA considers UAPB a threat (although UCA has way more potential than UAPB). Their leadership is very impressive lately. They seem to really have a strong vision for the future of that school. My brother is a student there.

Conque is still at UCA. they are tech north you would say.
Brandon Avance, Jelani Lewis and Ulysses Allen are GAs or student assistants there. Go to uca.edu and check out the facilities being built there. They are building an indoor practice facility, how many DI have those? Just the big boys mostly. I wish CLint and his staff luck with the move to IAA if it happens.

Cangelosi's little brother is a starting CB there. Will be a senior next season.

Actually, Cangelosi's brother started at SS and I believe he was a senior this year.

That figures. Louisiana Tech damn sure could have used a good defensive back over the past 3 years (and next year.) We certainly don't have any today.

It never would've worked with him...he's too fast and smart. He wouldn't have fit in very well.

    Conque to SFA?

Conque was scheduled to interview for the vacant head football position at Stephen F. Austin last week. So he might not be there much longer.

That would be an excellent move! E.Texas is prime for a ton of good recruits this year. Heck, 11 teams within 60 miles of Tyler are either in the Texas Championship's for their respective divisions or in the semi's.

Nope, he started at CB and just finished his junior year.
