    Natchitoches Central fires football coach/AD

Mike Ceislak, who has been head FB coach and AD at NCHS for some 17 years, has been canned.

This 1-9 season in FB, following several straight losing campaigns, and the general deterioation of the athletics at Central prompted the move. The current principal at Central, Ronnie Waites, was the baseball coach at Central, but was "removed" from that position years ago by Ceislak. Now Waites has "removed" Ceislak.

Even high schools make personnel changes when their athletics begin to suck. Hello Reneau! open your eyes!

maybe the head football coach should not have been the athletic director. Mike should have been either ad or head fb coach. politics in football= 1-9 season= poor athletic program. anyone know how the other 16 seasons went?

Re: Natchitoches Central fires football coach/AD

Yes, basically, Natch Central was mostly successful under Cieslak. In 1995 and 1996 NC was ranked #1 in the state. Several years after that, they advanced to the state semis, losing at Hahnville as I recall. In the past, a 5-5 season was a bad year for NC. That is until 3 years ago, when it got really bad: 2-8, 1-9, type seasons.

Mike Cieslak was(is) very abrasive. He talks "down" to everyone. He thinks very highly of himself and made a lot of enemies. With NC winning in the past, he was untouchable. But, when he started losing, then all those enemies he had made had all the ammo they needed....

In September a group of "concerned" parents and alums got on the school board meeting agenda to express their dissatisfaction with the condition of athletics at NC. This 1-9 season in FB, with nothing good looming....they suck in hoops and in baseball too, was the final straw.

Louisiana Tech's athletic fortunes today closely mirror that of Natch Central's. What do we have to be proud of.....?

That is my point for bringing this up. Everywhere else, including high schools, make changes when those currently in charge are not getting it done. That's everywhere but at Tech...apparently.

Usually at the HS level, the head football coach is the AD. They don't have the money for a separate AD. The principal is in charge of hiring and firing.
