    Mumme in the WAC

Hal Mumme has just been hired by New Mexico State. Our schedule just got a little tougher!

Gawd! seems like every school in the WAC has a good headcoach....except one.

Mumme has spent most, if not all, of his career in the South. Wonder how he'll do trying to recruit the great southwest. He should get some Texas recruits, but probably not the pick of the litter. Recruiting will be the biggest challenge.

San Jose hires Tomey, now this.

    Hello JO and DR!

I'll bet Mumme was waiting for the LA Tech job to open up. He would have been a perfect fit for Tech. But when Oakes didn't fire Bicknell AGAIN this year, Mumme probably said "to hell with it", and decided to move on.

Mumme's base pay is $195,000 with incentives to be worked out. The entire coaching staff, including the strength coach is heading to the land of the enchanted sun. His pay in the stawberry capital was $75,000.

I bet you're right. It wouldnt shock me at all if he really wanted to be here.

HD , you know Oakes. What are your thoughts on Oakes wanting Bick gone but DR not letting him pull the trigger? If this is true... What should your boy JO do?

Over the last couple of years, Jim Oakes has almost adopted a "Howard Hughes" mentality when it comes to discussing Louisiana Tech athletics. Jim isolates himself from allot of his friends and refuses to have in depth discussions that have any real meaning. If you want to talk about the weather, or the kids or the stuff back home, Jim's your guy. However, if you want to learn anything about the Tech athletic program or its coaches, forget about it. I like Jim, but recently you feel like you're talking to a congressional candidate that never really gives you a straight answer.
