As I watched The University of Hawaii in whatever that bowl is out there on the island, the nice folks from ESPN put up some stats on Hawaii's defense. They (The Rainbow Warriors) were dead last...as in AT THE BOTTOM...in a couple of defensive categories. When WE were last in defensive categories, people beat us like we had stolen something!
The reasonable person would think: If they were last, and we had Ryan Moats, why didn't we score, o'h, say, 50 points, and not 27?
I guess we all know the answer, and it is very disturbing. Last year, Bool Hand Luke put up 41 in conjunction with a big game from Moats. This year, our young QB was suspect and inexperienced, but he wasn't THAT bad. We should have beaten Hawaii, and we should have been in that silly bowl game. One would HOPE that the administration and/or JBIII would realize such a travesty.
Mr. Hines has been a solid and important fixture at the university. If there are loyalties to him, do what they do in a lot of industries with folks they don't want to totally get rid of....: Kick him upstairs. Make him as assistant to Mr. Oakes or something. Then, hire someone who can put points on the board.
Granted, Conroy has had some flashes of almost brilliance...but it hasn't been consistent and it hasn't been when the school needed it.
Tech should have been 7-5, MAYBE 8-4, and we should have been the ones taking our 34 fans to that bowl in Hawaii!
