Just heard on the news down here that a strip club franchise has offered to sponsor the Independence Bowl! I want to be at that halftime show.

I-Bowl sponsorship offer raises eyebrows

You’ll think you’ve seen this before: The Deja Vu Independence Bowl.
After going sponsorless for last year’s Independence Bowl, officials have received an offer from the president of Deja Vu Showgirl Clubs to sponsor next year’s game.
“This could be a win-win situation because of tremendous publicity this sponsorship will generate for both of us,” Deja Vu President Jim St. John of Lansing, Mich., said Friday. The company has more than 70 gentleman’s clubs, including a site in downtown Shreveport.
Bowl Executive Director Glen Krupica said the offer — which came by letter and a press release —was not solicited, and is being perceived as a “bit of a publicity stunt.”
“The fact that we have had virtually no contact with any Deja Vu personnel, have not heard from them until this letter, and obviously we wouldn’t contact them in any way, shape or form to solicit this,” Krupica said. “Obviously we’re surprised.”
Krupica also called the Deja Vu’s actions presumptuous.
“Our leaders are of a standpoint that we can’t, nor do we want Deja Vu to be the title partner,” he said. “It just wouldn’t be appropriate.”
The Independence Bowl game in December was the first since 1990 that lacked a title sponsor. The search for a sponsor is now in its 21st month.
St. John said the company seeks nothing more than what Hooter’s gets through its nationally sponsored events.
“For everybody who sponsors one of these things there’s a dual purpose: It’s for the community, and it’s for us,” he said. “As long as we participate and it benefits people, doesn’t offend anybody, everybody feels they get value out of it. It ought to be looked into by the committee there.”
The Independence Bowl would cost a sponsor about $1 million a year, Krupica said.
“We anticipated it being at least $1 million before we made the offer,” St. John said.
Shreveport City Councilman Thomas Carmody was borderline outraged, borderline shocked.
“This makes me sick,” he said. “It better be a bad joke.”
Carmody speculated the offer was simply made out of hype.
“I bet the halftime show is going to be awesome,” he said.
Sounds like a PERFECT match!
Beggars?“Our leaders are of a standpoint that we can’t, nor do we want Deja Vu to be the title partner,”
Choosers?
The winner of the bowl can win the coveted "Mike Price Trophy".
Funny stuff!
Let's not nix this idea yet. There are Tech fans from Memphis who might become major donors to the "eager beavers" if they aren't already.
I can't think of anything MORE appropriate. They both prostitute themselves.Originally Posted by MG61
Congratulations to whoever pulled this off. This is really funny. I would loved to have seen the look on all those I-Bowl committee pricks when they read that letter.
I still say they should go for it. Janet Jackson would be old news compared to that half time show! The billboards would be awesome too! This would be too good to be true. Every team in the country would want to be a part of the I-Bowl. They would go from the bottom of the barrell to the NC game.
