I don't think those are the seats in question, the seats you mention are behind the team bench. The seats TulsaPup references are behind the row of blue floor seats. If that is the case, then it was most likely Mr. Sign man's wife that made the comment. Recently she has moved down to the front row to sit by him.

And in the student's defense - that section is for students . . .

Sure you can do that until they ask Tech PD to forcibly remove the stander. And being pleased with any opportunity to harrass a student, you can bet the nearest Tech cop will happy to oblige.

This also applies to Final Four games for which the student had to drive 30 hours and spend well beyond their means to score tickets. In these cases, the Techster blue-hairs, lacking LTPD barnies, will simply sic the NCAA ushers on the hapless students for excessive standing. And they also WILL escort said student from the premises!

No drinking, cussing, or lewd conduct required! All you have to do is stand up at a Lady Techster game and look under 25 to start the clock ticking. You'll have about 3 minutes to sit your butt down before somebody comes to carry it out.

They moved the people who held the first section of pull-outs directly across the floor to the left hand side of the media section -

But you are correct in stating that the area they were moved to was designated for students until the time we began WAC play -

You better believe if some cop or usher tries to tell me to sit down or leave they will have to carry me out. I am not going to sit down just because some police officer told me to do so. And if J.O. or anybody else has a problem with students standing in front of somebody's precious season ticket seat then they can move those seats to somewhere else.

Hey Tulsa Pup, you remember the Tulsa game earlier this year up in Tulsa(men's game)? As soon as the game started when they scored all of their fans sat down and they were telling us to sit down. They went and told a cop and I heard the cop say that he couldn't do anything about it. I was so happy! The Tulsa fans are great. They are loud and they stand too. I think it was just a few old people that told us to sit down. They ended up moving a little higher anyway.

Soccer dawg: same thing at tech, we were told by a tech cop, requested by a fan, to sit at the guys game against fresno, my brother knows all the cops(hes a student worker for LTPD), so the cop didnt enforce it and later said oakes is the only one with authority to tell us to sit. So students; IGNORE THE COPS. make oakes come tell you to sit, i bet he wont.

    What granny really did was...

    TulsaPup,

I was sitting there right next to you. The old lady came up behind us, with program rolled up, and starting hitting me and the guy next to me with it. She was literally HITTING us! Looking back on it now, it was pretty funny that crazy old bat was hitting us with a rolled up program, but at the time I was a little ticked.

And as soon as we sat down, San Jose went on a 8-0 run on us. I vote we have a section designated for blue hairs.

So you think this doesn't happen??? This is how Tech makes profits at BB and FB games. The Bluehairs buy up the chair backs by the dozen. I know of several that are only two in the family and have 10 FB and 6 BB season tickets.

I'm sure it happens all the time, and I am glad it does. I was just giving him a hard time.
And it might be fun to try my plan to get someone to fetch my popcorn.

Re: Students forced to sit at games

What normally happens with me is that at a FB or BB game is that I tell surrounding people what we plan to do, which is harass the living hell out of the opposing team. Most of my friends have been drinking before we get there, especially at FB games. If people haphazardly venture into the front row seats on the left hand side on the BOP, I calmly explain to them the opposing team is about to get a mouthful from the guys and it ain't alaways going to be "nice and clean" by Ruston standard. The cops usually stand in front of us and get a good laugh from what we say, that is not to say they allow us to say anything but they let things slide alot.

A rowdy home crowd is worth 10 points. Keep up the noise.

Keep standing and keep yelling! At the men's games especially.

If someone behind you complains, direct them to one of the 7,500 empty seats.

Re: What granny really did was...

This is a problem everywhere. People at TU complain about the "blue hairs" always telling them to sit down. In the years when we don't totally stink it up, our younger fans don't sit much at all. The entire arena stands and claps until the first points for TU are scored. It's a tradition, but some people are there to be seen, not to see the game. ;-)

Does Tech not reseat every so many years? I know at TU we reseat every 4 years or so, which is nice, because people who donate more moola, are letterwinners, hold season tickets, etc earn points more quickly and can adjust their seats first. I know we plan to pick up four mid-court seats next season (we're on the aisle next to mid-court now). Anyway-- point is-- it allows for people to move their seats accordingly-- and reseat next to "like" people. It also ensures that the persons who are most supportive have the best opportunity to secure the best seats.

This is the best solution. During the post season in arenas around the country, this is what the Hoop Troop has to do when fans are seated behind us. One of the first things JO did upon his arrival at Tech was to set up the courtside row for basketball. Great idea. No point in "bowing up" over being told to sit down. Just do the above and recycle. The whole point is creating a tough home court advantage, isn't it? About the lady... save her a seat and invite her to join you. If she won't, you could always keep inviting her up every time she tells you to sit down. Now that I think of it... that would probably make her day. Well, maybe not.
