Team USA Baseball - La Tech grad

FYI, Larry Little LaTech grad '98 and former Media Relations staffer / Baseball contact has been named Media Director for Team USA Baseball. Those of you that know Larry know his love for Baseball. Great stuff!

February 3, 2005 - Durham, NC - USA Baseball announced today that John
Cohen of the University of Kentucky, Dave Van Horn of the University of
Arkansas, and Rob Walton of Oral Roberts University will serve as
Assistant Coaches on the 2005 USA Baseball National Team that will represent
the United States this summer internationally. They will each assist
2005 Team USA Head Coach Steve Smith of Baylor University.

In addition, USA Baseball also announced that Andrew Norden of Duke
University will serve as the Team Athletic Trainer, and that Larry Little
of Baylor University will serve as the Team Press Officer.

Cohen is entering his second season at the helm of the Wildcat baseball
program, following two very successful seasons as an Assistant Coach at
the University of Florida. Prior to his position at Florida, Cohen
spent four highly-successful seasons as the head coach at Northwestern
State University. In that span, he directed the Demons to a pair of
Southland Conference titles in 1998 and 2001 and was named the Southland Coach
of the Year during both championship seasons.

Van Horn is entering his third season as the head coach at his alma
mater. He boasts a 665-273 (.709) career record in 16 seasons as a head
coach, including an 80-46 (.635) mark at Arkansas. His postseason resume
includes six NCAA regional berths, four conference tournament crowns,
three College World Series appearances and a Division II National
Championship. In 2004, Van Horn led the Razorbacks to their second ever SEC
crown and the school's 5th ever berth in the College World Series.

Walton led Oral Roberts to its first 50-win season in 20 years and
produced the nation's best team winning percentage (50-11, .820), in just
his first campaign with the Golden Eagles last year. He helped ORU rise
to an end-of-season Top 20 ranking - also for the first time in 20
seasons - and clinched the programs' record-breaking seventh straight
Mid-Continent Conference crown to earn 2004 Mid-Con Coach of the Year
    honors.

"USA Baseball is very fortunate to have each one of these outstanding
coaches dedicate their summer to our program," said Eric Campbell, USA
Baseball General Manager of National Teams.

This will be the first USA Baseball experience for all three coaches,
as well as Norden and Little. Norden is currently in his third season as
the Duke Baseball Athletic Trainer, while Little is in his second
season as the Baylor Baseball Sports Information Contact.

In June, USA Baseball will invite 36 of the nation's top freshman and
sophomore collegiate players to the USA Baseball National Team Trials in
Raleigh. After the team is selected, Smith will guide Team USA through
their third summer of play at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in July
following the 34th Annual USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series in Japan,
and a five-game Friendship Series vs. Chinese Taipei in Taiwan. The
entire 2005 USA Baseball National Team game schedule will be announced at
    a later date.

USA Baseball is the National Governing Body of amateur baseball in the
United States and a member of the United States Olympic Committee. The
organization selects and trains the USA Baseball Olympic Team, the USA
Baseball National Team (Collegiate), the USA Baseball Junior National
Team (18-under), and the USA Baseball Youth National Team (16-under)
which participate in various international competitions each year. The USA
Baseball headquarters are based in Durham, North Carolina with future
training facilities in Cary, North Carolina.

I just heard about that on the radio here in Dallas. That's great for Larry.
