Bowling Green was scheduled for 9/15/29 / don't know the status of that
I predict those will be conference games for the last 3 of that series

Sounds like it's been moved to 2035.
This is why instead of silly talk about a 9 game conference schedule, a better question at the CUSA media days would have been to ask if they're considering a 7 game conference schedule. Almost every team in the conference must have a dozen G5 teams they'd rather schedule a home and home with than play each other (beyond the rival pairs).
You think Liberty would rather play any given CUSA game over a good SB-East team? Or that WKU couldn't find 5-6 MAC teams they'd rather play than UTEP/NMSU/FIU? For much of the conference, I would have a hard time coming up with another G5 team I'd prefer to play less (which isn't necessarily meant to be some great insult to KSU or FIU or Delaware, it's not that I'd want to play, like SJSU or Bowling Green more, it's just that I wouldn't necessarily want to play them less). And it's easy to think of lots of teams that I would rather play more than FIU or Missouri State or Delaware or well, literally anyone in CUSA.
The same thing would be true in other sports. I mean, you gotta have a conference. But instead of adding more and more teams or pretending that this group of schools has some glorious past (or future) together, let's just minimize the damage and "get by." Maybe fewer league games is a way to do that.
I emailed it in as a suggestion. You'd probably have to suggest it a little more delicately to the conference than how I put it, and I think many ADs would just say "but then I'd have to schedule another game and it'd be too haaaaaard." And there could be timing issues. Be risky. But we've actually done a great job with OOC series since 9 teams left the conference.
There is not one CUSA team I'd rather Tech play than the UNT/SMU/Tulsa/ULL/ULM/USA/USM OOC games we've scheduled. And there are probably another 6-7 I'd also feel that way about.
Think that ship has sailed and this series addition confirms that.
That is actually good thinking and I wish Southern Miss could have scheduled close schools that our fans had an interest in and could travel to instead of some of the CUSA games we have to travel to. Smart idea.
Marshall and USM refuse to separate, so that's not nothing. When we started talks to leave CUSA and you guys did not want to discuss, the Herd did. I do not think you'll see us separate from them unless one of us gets a P2 call (which is not happening).
Why would any group of schools separate and leave a conference to form a new conference without major TV dictating? The money left behind would be greater than any new money. Plus - The Mouse is a fan of SBC.
Anything can happen. But unless you have something to back this, I will assume it is just "your gut feel" and no more.
There is no real money in any of the G5 TV deals. When you have a token hire as conference commissioner along with Presidents and ADs caving to mid-week games, we and others in CUSA are actually losing money due to ticket sales being down.
Is that because of the midweek month taking away a few Saturdays from home ticket packages?
When I saw the CUSA midweek agreement, I wondered how we could have afforded that. I think it would crush our season ticket sales to do that.
Or is that because of new opponents from long distances not stirring casual fan interest or bringing opposing fans? I would have to guess a non-conference game against us (which is smart to schedule for both schools) would bring more visiting fans to LaTech than a mid-week conference game versus ______ (fill in the blank from options).
Or a combination of the two? I have wondered if/how it affected ticket sales but didn't want to look like a visitor poster trying to start mess by asking that.
