Women’s Basketball Coach Placed on Leave for Possible Serious Violations of University Policies

California State University, Fresno head women’s basketball coach Stacy Johnson-Klein has been placed on paid administrative leave effective immediately pending the outcome of a review.

Athletics director Scott Johnson announced the leave today for what are described as “allegations of serious violations” of university policies by the coach.

“We have met with Coach Johnson-Klein and informed her that the university has reports of several serious problems that may violate university policy,” Johnson said

The review will be conducted as quickly as possible and the university will provide an opportunity for Coach Johnson-Klein to respond to issues that have been raised.

The alleged violations are not believed to involve major NCAA violations, although there are potentially two secondary infractions which will be immediately reported to the NCAA.

During her absence assistant coach Adrian Wiggins will serve as interim head coach for the team. Wiggins is in his third season as assistant coach at Fresno State. Wiggins oversees both preseason and postseason workouts and assists with on-the-floor coaching.

The Ruston event was the icing on the cake. From what I here, there are MANY MAJOR ISSUES.

Reply She is toast..Done..gone... She blew $425,000 a year! She won't get a HS coaching job now. In my opinion of course.

Reply We are on NCAA probation, SHE SHOULD BE FIRED!!! If violations happened, major or secondary, she needs to be FIRED ASAP!!! A major violation could put women's basketball on the death penalty!

What was she thinking? We are on probation already! You cannot make any mistakes when it comes to NCAA violations!!!

Well, you can bet one thing for sure...this isn't coming down from Scott Johnson, this is coming down from John Welty. No way Scott pulls the trigger on axing his special lady if he has a choice in the matter!

Reply Scott Johnson needs to resign NOW! Scott Johnson needs to do something honorable for once in his career and resign immediately.

What else can happen under his watch?

He has lost complete control over the athletic department.

It is a very sad thing that he got rid of a winning volleyball coach with a long and impressive history at the school, and then decides to keep someone like SJK who is now suspended for "allegations of serious violations" while the school is on probation.

Scott Johnson must resign now.

Reply Scott Johnson had FAIR WARNING of this crap... Two years ago Stacey was busted for using recruiting money to pay for personal expenses, and using University money to fly her husband FIRST CLASS to Hawaii and Australia under the premise of "recruiting trips."

She put in to be reimbursed for jewelry and had a VCR installed in her car and billed it as a "moving expense."

Johnson stood by his SPECIAL LADY and said "we found some things that were not above board, she paid the University back." This is not just a violation of University or Cal State University policy, this is a violation of state law. You cannot "pay back the University" after you have been busted, and not be fired. But he protected his special lady.

Johnson KNEW this stuff was going on, and allowed it to continue. Damn right he should be fired!

Reply Did SJK just kill our AD? Our entire AD is on probation due to the BB issues of 2 years ago. Did her "violations " just put the final nail in the coffin?

Reply You need to blame Scott Johnson as much as Stacy if not more Scott Johnson is more to blame than Stacy in my opinion.

You don't hire a coach whose only head coaching experience has been to have a miserable losing record at a Division II school in rural Oklahoma. He took a huge risk by hiring her and now we are all (fans, student athletes, coaches) paying the price for his poor decision.

Most of us saw the writing on the wall when she was originally hired.

Scott needs to take the blame on this one and step aside for the good of the university.
