Anything that's more than 2 years down the road is probably going to be conference scheduled games at that point it will just be a mystery what the conference is called by then. Once the big two finish carving up football and the money, we might as well try and dominate whatever is left. College sports has changed and is never going back.

...and I could not be less interested. I'll always be a Tech fan, but it's much less important to me now that TV and their puppets run the show.

I feel the same way to a degree. I will always be a Tech fan, and I will watch some of the other games, but my interest in college sports as a whole is significantly less than say 10 years ago. Part of it is now, schools like Tech don't have anything to play for in football. We won't make the playoff and we aren't FCS there is no potential championship... there is nothing but an over bloated bowl system. I am sure the Big 2 will find a way to squeeze us out of the other sports at some point as well.

I mean, even 10 years ago that was the case. Bowls had already started to bloat by then so you weren't really playing for anything at the end of the season either. Just spinning your wheels and spending money you don't have.

Bowls were always more about money than "rewarding the players for a wonderful season" or for determining who was the top school. I mean, from the very beginning this was the case. When live tv became more valuable than train tickets and hotel room taxes, it just got easier and worth it to have lots (more) exhibition games to end the season. Which did allow for more "bad" games with less good teams, but also allowed teams like Tech that couldn't sniff a bowl even when we were good enough because of the size of our fan base to get to play them.

There are a ton of things making it harder and harder to be a college football fan. But "an over-bloated bowl system" isn't one for me. You can always change the channel.

You're definitely correct. Just doesn't feel like there's anything to brag about anymore. Of course, that may be a complaint about our particular program and not the bowl system. If we were winning 10-11 games + championship regularly I probably wouldn't be upset about "bowl bloat."
