For a first class, this looks really good. Multiple 4-year starters. Lots of select players. Good luck to the new lady techsters.

i noticed she went mostly out of state. she can probably get louisiana kids to come to tech on topps and get them to walk on. most of the girls from last year were from louisiana because she had to strictly go with walkons who were already in school and a few transfers.

Re: First LaTech Soccer Signing Class

No offense guys, but I coached in Louisiana and I coach soccer currently in Texas. No comparsion of talent levels, in the dallas area alone we have three of the top ranked soccer clubs in America.

If you can recruit California, Illinois, and Texas, and get solid kids you will be top 25 every year.

It is a strong class for a 2nd year program. I know several of these girls and have seen several others up close. I coached girls for three years when I came to Texas, and I am glad to be back to boys. I used to coach in Richardson and the Pearce girl is a good catch.

I ahve two girls who play in the club I coach for that are going to be seniors next year that are D1 talent. I may contact her about them if they continue to improve.

True. My jv team here at Centennial in Frisco is pretty stout and thats being a 2nd year school with no seniors on cmapus till next year. Plus our best players are obviously play varsity. The talent level is just awesome. Makes a coaches job a lot easier when you have good talent.

Re: First LaTech Soccer Signing Class

I know there is a huge difference between us and the Aggies program but this just demonstrates the depth of the state and hopefully we will be here one day. The Currie girls are a great package deal.

Texas A&M Soccer 2005 Signing Class

    Cydne Currie - Forward

    Irving, Texas (MacArthur)

    Dallas Inter

2004 Parade all-America Team, Member of the ODP State Team, 1997-2004 ODP Regional Team, 2001-2004 Member of the U16, U17 and U19 National Teams. 2003-2004 Played club soccer for Dallas Inter and coach Chris Ring. Honored with the Club Players Choice Award in 2003 and 2004 with Dallas Inter. Twin sister Natalie is also a 2005 Aggie signee. Daughter of Scott and Marty Currie.

Coach G on Cydne: "Cyd is probably the headliner of this class; the signee which folks around the nation know the most about due to her incredible scoring abilities as a youth national team player. In fact, many people would rate her as the #1 recruit in America this year. Cydne is that special goal scorer which great teams build around. For us, she will fit right into the way we do things and make us much more dangerous. She has fantastic pace and head-to-head ability, along with a knack of turning half chances into goals. I think we will help her develop into one of the most complete players in America over the course of her career in Aggieland."

    Natalie Currie -Midfield

    Irving, Texas(MacArthur)

    Dallas Inter

Member of the ODP State Team, 1997-2004 - ODP Regional Team. 2001-2004 - Attended the ESP National Camp. Two-time letterwinner at MacArthur High,

Coach G on Natalie: "Natalie is the fastest player in this recruiting class, which is quite a statement. She is a very aggressive attacking soccer personality, and provides A&M another game breaking threat on the flank of our line-up. I know Natalie is going to fit into the fabric of our team very well, not just because of her outstanding athletic gifts, but also due to her team first personality and outstanding work ethic."

Coach G on Cydne's and Natalie's soccer background: "Chris Ring is a former player of mine. He has done a tremendous job of developing a reputation that Inter teams can play an attractive style of soccer and developing well rounded players for the college level."

    Emily Peterson - Defender

    Tulsa, Okla. (Jenks)

    Tulsa Soccer Club

2004 NSCAA/adidas All-America. 2004 NSCAA/adidas All-Region. 2004 Jenks High School Player of the Year. 2004 Wendyıs Heisman Nominee. 2003 Gatorade Player of the Year for Oklahoma. Daughter of Dennis and Peggy Peterson.

Coach G on Emily: "Emily is an all around winner! Not only is she is ranked at the top of her high school class academically, but she is also the Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year for the state of Oklahoma. Emily is a quick, tough, and very crafty left footed player who we think will come in and compete immediately for playing time on the left side of our defense. I think she will quickly become a fan favorite and inspirational role model for our young supporters."

Coach G on Emily's soccer background: "Emily has had the privilege of playing in two of the premier programs in Oklahoma. Gene Jackson is an outstanding youth coach who has placed many great players into college programs across the nation, and Michael Carney has a great tradition in developing championship caliber players and teams at Jenks High School."

    Laura Grace Robinson - Midfield

    Houston, Texas (Memorial)

    Klein Challenge

2003 and 2004 NSCAA All-America. Member of U16, U17 and U19 National Team Pool. Led her club teams to seven state championships, three regional tournaments, a WAGS Championship, Surf Cup Finals and the Alamo Cup Championship. Ran varsity track her freshman and sophomore years and holds the school record in the 4X800m relay. Will graduate high school with Cum Laude honors. Daughter of Charles and Nancy Robinson.

Coach G on Laura Grace: "LG is a major talent! As a youth National Team player, she has proven herself as one of the best passers in America, which suits our style very well. LG has great physical range, she consistently puts herself in scoring position and scores a lot goals coming from the midfield. She had a near perfect SAT score, and socially fits in very well with the girls already on our roster through their common experiences on youth club, regional, and national teams. LG is a fantastic addition to our team!"

Coach G on LG's soccer background: "LG comes to us from one of the legendary youth coaches in America. Pat O'Toole and the Challenge have sent Texas A&M many great players over the years. Players like Diana Rowe, Ashley Fendley, Amanda Burke, Kristen Strutz, and Cristina Echavarry have all had great careers in Aggieland. Current Aggie soccer players Lauren Pfister, Julie Almeida, Sara Albrecht, Suzette Devloo, Annie Burnett, and Julie Spearink all played for Challenge just last summer."

    Micah Stephens - Defender

    Sting

Played high school soccer at Flower Mound High. Two-time all-district defender, 2002 and 2003 All-district defensive MVP. Member of the Student Council. Daughter of Michael and Mary Stephens.

Coach G on Micah: "Micah is the kind of player we love to have on our back line. She's tall, fast, athletic, and skillful. She is not only a solid defender, but she's also a scoring threat as she can move the ball forward on the flank of our formation. Micah has a fantastic reputation for working hard for her coaches and teammates, and has already graduated high school. She is taking classes part time at Northlake College to better prepare herself for academic success here at Texas A&M."

Coach G on Micah's soccer background: "Micah comes from a club with a wonderful reputation for developing players with a great work ethic. Elizabeth Pavlas (Texas A&M '01) coached her in the Sting system along with MISL legend Tatu."

    Dallasdawg,

You are coaching Centennial's team? Boys or girls?

Where can I get a schedule. My sons U95 team starts practice this week, and I would like them to watch some teams play.

My sister's select and odp teams in Shreveport had to go to Texas to find the competition. We traveled all over the country for tournaments. Shreveport has some great talent, or had anyway, and could easily be utilized instead of the girls going to Tennessee and Alabama to play soccer after high school.

DallasDog, looks like you are the go-to guy on this subject. Hope you are on a first name basis with Soileau. I don't know stink about soccer, but I'm a Tech grad and fan. If we are going to do this, then let's do it right.

How do scholarships work for the girls. Full, partial, or what?

    Micah Stephens - Defender

    Flower Mound, Texas (Flower Mound)

Flower Mound played Berkner Tuesday night and 4 of the starters managed to lock themselves into the locker room. They were in there for over 1.5 hours and didn't make it out to the game till after haltime. Would have been sooner, but we had to call a locksmith to let them out. Sure hope this one wasn't one of them!!!

Are there any other women's soccer programs in the state? Sounds like we could be laying the foundation to the be the top soccer team in LA for a long time.

Re: First LaTech Soccer Signing Class

LSU has a program coached by Womens National team player and NCAA all time scoring leader Danielle Foutopolous and her husband, who was her coach at Florida.

Mcneese, NLU, ULM, ULL, NWST all have programs too.

The WAC loses prestige when SMU leaves but it will be easier for our ladies to compete in if they start this year.

I am friends with the SMU coaches and it is going to hurt having them leave in this sport.

However of the state programs I believe the only one funded very well and of a solid quality is LSU and they are no powerhouse yet.

Nwst mad ethe NCAA last year by winning the southland I think but got put in a sub regional with SMU Texas and Texas AM.

Re: First LaTech Soccer Signing Class

I am coaching the boys side again. I will post the schedule link in a bit. We have had the Caddo Magnet and Shreve girls as well as a few others of the south Louisiana powers over here for tournaments and they hold their own against the middle tier teams but usually get worked pretty ahrd to the upper tier programs.

I don't know coach Soileau really. I talked to her assistant about a diamond in the rough over here that can score like crazy, but doesnt have any help on her club, even though they play in a top division over here, and her high school team is horrible, but I think they already filled their need at forward.

    DCHI72,

here is the link to the schedule http://www.friscoisd.org/schools/chs_soccer.htm it will take you to our general information page.

Also I would like to tell you about some exciting news for your son. I am the keeper coach for soccer America and we have officially merged with Everton of the English premier league and are set to become the international hub for Everton. We will dissolve Soccer America in May and become Everton America. We will be adding many teams till we reach 45 for the fall season next year. Their coaches and our staff will be putting on a huge media blitz and clinics in June so bring the whole team out and let them meet the coaches and maybe some of the players from England.
