I cannot believe people on here think we could possibly lure a head coach away from a BCS school. No one in their right mind is going to leave an Auburn, a Purdue or even a Baylor to come to Tech for any sport to make a lateral move.

Well I don't understand all of this talk of increasing the head coach's salary if we are not trying to lure someone that already has a big name. Surely we will not give Chris Long 200,000 a year when we were not willing to match the OSU offer to Budke.

Again, many underestimate the name of the Lady Techsters. There are NO BCS basketball programs. While the SEC and B12 have shown that they will pay high salaries, only 1 program has as much success as the Techsters for the long run. Outside of Louisiana the name of the Lady Techsters means something. It means something in the B12 and it means something in the SEC. They know who we are and what this program is about. We are not a mid major program in wbb. Many of you would be surprised.

Now, as for salary, no we can't compete with the SEC or most B12 schools. The cost of living is lower here and we offer one of the most prestigeous programs in the country with guaranteed national press.

We can compete.

Nell Fortner would certainly be a name, but she hasn't done much for Auburn. In fact, I only know of two coaches in the country that have the type of success we are looking for and they aren't going anywhere. So, that leaves us with finding a new success story. A Leon or Pat assistant would be a great place to start looking.
