The fact Nicholls was able to hang with LSU for as long as they did gives me just a glimmer of hope that Tech won't get blown out by NC State. I'm not going so far as predicting a Tech win however. I'm glad it is an early game so I can get on with my Saturday even if Tech gets crushed.

Seemed to me that Baker could throw farther but not more accurately.

i'm cautiously optimistic about our defense. hard to tell against nicholls in the rain. if we can complete more passes to receivers than defenders, we may have a chance of keeping it close because of the defense (if they really are that much improved).

regardless, it would be foolish to expect a win at this point. i just hope to see three things:
1. defense proves they really are significantly improved.
2. offensive line opens a few running holes and protects the qbs.
3. qbs take care of the football.

i'd be ecstatic with 10-24 loss at this point of the season.

Seemed to me that Baker could throw farther but not more accurately.

Hard to evaluate when he is a redshirt Frosh getting thrown in there in a wet game 1. Probably has a limited knowledge of the playbook. Also, he wasn't in sync with his WRs. Understanding the condition he was under, he was below average on accuracy. He did connect on pretty nice zip pass.

My impression from the Nichols game and thinking about what Jech is likely to face at NCS is that our defense will be woefully undersized and under quicked to stay within 5 TDs.
