On head coach???
Well, if Louisiana Tech wanted to really maximize the publicity surrounding our new coaching hire, we should have announced the new coach at about 2 pm yesterday (Tuesday), so the broadcasters could have talked about it on the national TV telecast last night for the NC game. With KMR's history at Louisiana Tech, you know the subject would have come up.
Then again, our administrators don't exactly think that way, do they?
The mere fact that it's taking so long to announce a new head coach for the Lady Techsters tells me our administrators were caught off guard by Budke's exit.

The FACT that finding a replacement has taken so long indicates we are fishing....and that "A" list folks probably aren't available.

yeah, but i wouldn't count on that time table. there was also a phone interview if you want to count that one it would make 3 in our "nationwide" search.
The 3 were the top 3 candidates. I can bet that Wagner will head to Alabama. She is my first choice, but if she takes that job, we will know that she wouldn't have been here long anyway.
Kelly Harper is one that would excite the fan base and get the recruits here quick. She is the way to go.

Oregon State is also looking for a wbb coach. I was listening to an interview with an assistant AD, today and she said they had talked to 25-30 candidates, but would only bring in 2-6 for an on campus interview. No names have been released and only some speculation in the papers.
I mention this, so we won't expect to see 10 people brought in to Ruston. You can do a national search on the phone to find out who is interested and what it would take to get the ones, who you are interested in.
I'm as impatient as any of you to hear something and as concerned about the administration's ability to make the right choice.
Funny thing. There is a group here campaigning for a female coach. They say they have hundreds of people who will step up and support the team if a woman is chosen. Funny because they have had a woman coach for the last 10 years. Where have they been?

For what it's worth, at a Tech alumni gathering in Houston tonight, I was told that the latest word is that an announcement on the head coach might come Saturday. It appears that Jennifer White has also been interviewed for the position.
I'm afraid it was only a courtesy interview.
