I have asked that for years on here with no good answers yet.Originally Posted by arkansasbob

He made it abundantly clear that character does matter by showing what happens when you have none.
After watching him script virtually all of his "candid" encounters with the public and journalists (the one at the "D" day celebration where he was biting his bottom lip and fighting back tears while fixing the cross on the beach that he had one of his aides move just a moment before comes to mind), nobody calls Reagan just an actor anymore.
He, along with Bush's dad, showed what can happen to you when you try to get along with and appease your enemies in a "kinder/gentler" approach to foreign policy. NEVER cut your military spending as drastically as they did in a time of peace, because there are too many out there waiting for you to become weak.
I'm sure there's more, but it's time for me to eat lunch and these things are making me lose my appetite.
I was a fan of DOMA, but it's looking more and more everyday like that was just for show and didn't really mean much. Other than that, Dawgynwindow is right on.

Thank you for your service as a teacher. What countries pay a total compensation package for teachers that is better than the U.S.? Likewise, most teachers pay are linked to their respective school district, the school district's main source of income are LOCAL taxes. How is Laura Bush a former librarian a slap in the face to Afgan educators?
Gas prices increases are due to 2 main reasons. The price of crude and the cost to refine that crude. I'm not absolutely sure of the bottom line figure but the U.S. as of last week only had 176 refineries. There are numerous articles in many trade publications about the shortage of refining capacity in the U.S. Are you a math teacher? Do the math...a shortage of capacity means people who consume gasoline will need to pay more for that consumption......SUPPLY vs. DEMAND. A good portion of my family earn a living in the oil and gas business.

You liberals crack me up. You say we shouldn't go into Iraq for oil and then complain when oil prices go up because we didn't take the oil that we shouldn't have been there for in the first place. Good to know that you motives are altruistic...except when they inconvenience you.Originally Posted by dawgfood

BULLSHIT!!! You think I give a rat's ass about any of the prisoners at Gitmo who might have infrmation that could save the life of a U.S. soldier or prevent a terrorist action that could kill innocent people?! They are there for a reason. You believe that we slaughtered Afghani and Iraqi people...what about Americans who actually HAVE been slaughtered in terrorist actions? What about their families and loved ones?
I REALLY love your last statement. You sound like junior high kid trying to join the popular crowd...as long as everyone likes us, screw everybody else.
What did we get out of the war? You should be asking the Afghani and Iraqi people what they got out of the war. They got freedom. You know, freedom...that concept that allows you to post your opinions on this message board without fear of persecution.
And please...feel free to read my signature below if there is any doubt about how I feel.

I wish you would quit teaching...you're the kind of teacher that I fear my child will one day have. You're filled up with opinions that I'm sure you got from moveon.org or some other socialist think tank, but you're empty when it comes to facts. You loved Clinton? That's great...he's just as responsible for where we are right now as anyone. You can't ignore problems forever, they'll come back and bite you right in the a$$. Sorry you're so disappointed with your country. Should you ever want to leave, I'll purchase your ticket. Go live with Johnny Depp in France...they'll love your views over there. Lots of libs promised to leave if GW got re-elected. Well, he's back...see ya. The truth of the matter is, with all our faults and failures, you'd never want to live anywhere else. As much as you "hate" our government, you're still here. I've got friends in Iraq as we speak and when I hear people compare what they are doing to Saddam's regime, it gets me real fired up. So, please, put your money where your mouth is and take off.

Yale undergrad and an MBA from Harvard are generally considered a good education. I'm sure you're much smarter than the president though. That's why, instead of sighting facts or giving us your thoughts, you give us Howard Dean's talking points. They've really got you thinkin' huh. I mean, you were pretty much word for word every liberal hack in the media. Way to go! We're all proud of you. You hypocritically shurk all of Clinton's responsibility for 911 and the unrest in the middle east...why? Because you're gonna vote for Hillary in the next election and it's not convenient. I really think you'd be more confortable in France or Iran or some place like that.Originally Posted by dawgfood
