Since Kerry has started popping off again, I’m stating to hear more junk from the whining dimmies about Bush’s service. Incredibly, one idiot leftie wrote in to our local paper saying Bush should be ashamed of his record and only wishes he could have a – get this -- “ a good one like Clinton and Kerry.” Say what?????

Just for the record, I found a summary of Clinton’s draft record. He actually never served in any branch of the military. His draft record, however, is quite interesting.

Slick Willie registered for the draft on Sept. 8, 1964 Draft No. 32646228, On Nov, 17, 1964 he was classified as 2S with student status. He remained in this classification until March 20, 1968 when he was reclassified as 1A. He was then ordered to report for induction. He failed to do so!

Although he was technically a fugitive for well over a year for failing to report, on Aug 7, 1969 he was “reclassified” as 1D under s special order from Col Eugene E. Holmes. In this order Holmes stated that Clinton was “officer material” --- apparently overlooking the fact that he was a fugitive -- and ordered that he be allowed to enroll in ROTC at the U of Arkansas. Clinton agreed and took the Oath of Enlistment. He was to report to his duty station in Sept. 1969. He failed to report!!!!

On October 30, 1969, his enlistment was revoked; he was reclassified as 1A and ordered to report. He was officially listed as AWOL and subject to arrest under Code 90-40 Section 2, Paragraph A.

Suddenly a Rhodes scholarship seemed to fall out of the sky – kind of odd for a “C” student –and Slick Willie was off to Oxford.

After returning to the US, he eventually ran for Congress in 1974. Would later run for Arkansas Attorney General in 1976. All of this while he was still technically subject to arrest as a federal felon. But then the wise Peanut Man came to his rescue. On Jan. 21, 1977, Carter gave him a very low key and totally unpublicized Presidential Pardon. (Maybe that’s why Willie was so generous in handing out dozens of these to some pretty nasty criminals his last couple of days in office.)

Thus Slick Willie became the first U S President to have received a Presidential Pardon for a federal offense.
