Just out of curiosity, who do you know that negoiate's with the Southern Athletic Department?

I'd rather play ULM than a 1-AA opponent. That just doesn't get me fired up at all. So what if you beat them. The same should be able to be said about ULM, but at least they are 1-A.

To 1AA or not to 1A is a bigger question for BCS contenders (ala AU '04) than for Tech. That said, I still feel, even with this new rule, there is no excuse to schedule a 1AA.

Nuthin but love for for Grambling, and I like GSU as an opponent for all other sports. But a ulx has got to be the choice for fball. I enjoy a 50-pt tune-up game as much as anyone. But it's much more satisfying to see a Belter on the receiving end.

BUT ... I would not mind repaying a little favor to SFA first.

They played someone in Shreveport year before last the weekend we played the Cajuns down there - attendance was very week less than 15,000 but 80% of that was Southern fans -

I have no problem playing them - but only in Ruston -

Just saying I've heard they are HARD to negoiate with...

They can't be any harder than the SEC who refuses to give us a home date no matter how many times we come to their place. If we want a sellout at home, Southern gets my vote. U-Lose-em won't bring as many fans as the Jags.

Sounds Oakes has already tipped his hand to JBIII about what will be done with the extra game in 2006 and JBIII doesn't like what he has been told - can't say that I blame him -

Should schedule an EARLY home game that year against ULM, renew the Cajun series, or against a 1AA team preferably Grambling -

My order of choice would be -

1) ULM
2) Grambling - I really think this would be GOOD for Ruston and the area and not cause the problems most think it will...
3) Cajuns
4) Northwestern St in RUSTON
5) any state 1-AA team - Nicholls, McNeese or SLU
6) and Texas SLC school
7) Arkansas State

Those are the ONLY schools we should even consider looking at for the game -

exactamundo. For 25 years our "extra games" = us getting killed to raise $300-750K.

We should reward the players and Tech fans by having a relatively easy game that will be exciting for the surrounding area.

As an "established" 1-a program, we ought to be able to pull it off.

If I'm not mistaken, it rained pretty hard that weekend. Also, it was another SWAC school, I believe from Texas. The reason I say Shreveport on labor day is because of the casinos and the long weekend. I have no problem with playing them in Ruston. I just think that playing them in Shreveport would bring an extra 5k.

I, also, remember seeing that the attendance was low and being surprised. I thought I remembered some extenuating reason also. It may be because the opposing team didn't travel well. I do remember the other team being from out of state, though. There is no doubt in my mind that in a good season, Southern will travel more fans to Aillet or even Indy than any non-Texas A&M team we would play.

I would rather play Grambling. Not because its might be easier because they are 1aa but because I would bet you they would bring a lot more fans than ul-M and that means more money.

In 1973 we were one game away from playing Grambling for the Division II National Championship. We won our semifinal game and they lost theirs. The finals were in Sacramento. Could you have imagined the buzz had Grambling won and that Championship game had been moved to Shreveport?

If you beat them, it increases your chances of going bowling. I think that is a stupid rule but I guarantee the bcsbs guys are checking out all of the 1AA schedules right now.
