BLOOMINGTON, Ind.- Louisiana Tech continued the season that resulted in a pair of conference championships as four individuals and one relay advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with numerous outstanding performances on Saturday at the Mideast Regional.

Doria Appleberry is one of two athletes nationally to qualify in both the women’s 100 and 400-meter hurdles.

The senior ran a 13.51 to finish fifth in the 100-meter hurdles before coming back an hour later to post her fastest time of the season in the 400-meter hurdles to finish second and move on the NCAAs in that event as well. Appleberry clocked a 57.50 in the 400-meter hurdles event moving on to the NCAA Championships that will being on June 8th in Sacramento, Calif.

Brenda-Grace Hunt had a solid throw of 160 feet to stamp her ticket to the NCAAs in ten days. Hunt is ranked No. 2 nationally in the event and will be competing for a national title for the second consecutive year after finishing 10th at the national meet a year ago.

Nina Gilbert qualified for the second consecutive year in the 400 metes with a 53.05 time to finish third in the regional.

Ayanna Alexander advanced as well with a triple jump of 42-7 which was good enough for a fourth place finish at the Mideast Regional. Alexander graduated a week ago and will now be competing at the NCAA Championships for the second year in a row.

The 1,600-meter relay team clocked the second fastest time in school history with a 3:34.95 to finish third behind Tennessee and Auburn to advance to the NCAAs for the second consecutive year.

Appleberry, Gilbert, Latonia Wilson and Krystal Cole make up the mile relay team for the Lady Techsters and finished 15th at the NCAA Championships last June.

The 400-meter relay team was disqualified in Friday’s prelims but has a chance to advance with an at-large selection as a result of its No. 12 national ranking coming into the regional.

As a team, the Lady Techsters finished 8th at the Mideast Regional with 36 points.

Not sure of the exact date. Probably in 2 weeks though, just guessing. NBC covered it last year, as I recall.

The championship meet is June 8-11 in Sacramento.

As has been the case for many years under its exclusive NCAA championship contract, CBS will provide delayed coverage on June 18.

    Congratulations to the Tech team.

Mods, could we get this thread moved out of Basketball to General Sports?
