I'm glad to hear this, his seems like a good hire to me. I feel hopeful about this year, especially if we do decently at Florida.
Wow, this seems like a really good find for Tech. This guy has been at nationally-prominent programs and has been a DC. He should bring a lot of knowledge and experience to the table. Not to mention, he probably has a lot of connections which is always a good thing no matter what business you are in.
We somehow lucked out getting Clay and Gandy on our staff. If we have a good season let's make damn sure we keep these two coaches.
I told you guys this 3 weeks ago
Hey Michael, do you think Evangel will be able to beat Springdale, AR in Shreveport this fall?Originally Posted by BIG DOG28

I was in northwest AR last week and according to talk radio their spring practices were practically a college coaching convention. They have at least 4 other BCS caliber athletes in addition to the QB. Their coach was very complimentary of Evangel.Originally Posted by MICKEYS14
I plan on being at that game, it should be a dandy.
Clay was the UAB def-coordinator when they beat LSU in tiger stadium.
If this thing works out with Clay (and I hope it does), do you think we will see Co-Defensive Coordinators again next year? I want to give Bates the chance to prove himself this year but on paper it sure looks like Clay is more qualified to be the guy.
I'm a fan of coach Clay already!Originally Posted by bluecrew
Sounds like a great catch. And the one of the best things is that he wanted to be here! Even after he was turned down as DC, he still wanted to come here. Hope he works out and stays for a while.

ECA will have one of the best defenses they have ever had. They are weak at QB but their D will keep them in most games. If their QB improves they will again be very good. They have made a committment to their starters that they will play 3 full quarters of every game no matter what the score is. Single A teams are going to be in a whole lot of trouble.
Any chance he's tryin' to outlast JB? I know it's speculation, but what else is a message board for? If we can only find a solid offensive weapon (my money is on Freddie Franklin...perhaps a Franklin/Jackson combo back thing...oooh, that gets my blood pumpin') I think we may really give Kansas a lot more trouble than many are predicting. I think Clay/Bates will get these defensive guys ready. I'm pumped about watching the best linebackers in the WAC.Originally Posted by hookdown

I think it is rediculous that ECA and some other schools were forced to move down.Originally Posted by BIG DOG28
