Guys, this is a tremendous boost to our team. I went by to check it out yesterday and it doesn't look at all like the same old weight room. Very nice indeed.

Great article
1 concern: Is there still potentially a problem of the weights being stolen? Something to do w/ not being able to lock the weight room b/c of a fire code or something? Does anyone know if this problem has been corrected?
Malone is awesome. How long do ya'll think McKnight will stick around? From what people say, I hear he is awesome! I hope we are paying him well.

Hopefully we've addressed the theft problem.
Way to go Karl. I don't even know what "Uesaka bumper plates" are, but they sure sound impressive.
Of course, there are some on here that will tell you I am a conservative lemming without a mind or compass -- CARTEK
THANK YOU, KARL MALONE!!!

I am sure Karl will be making use of his weight room when he moves to SC. Maybe he will be motivate some of these young bucks to work harder.
By the way, how big is his house going to be?
I hope the administration noticed the "WOW FACTOR" that permiated throught out that article -
Tech may not have the biggest weightroom, but now they have one of the best equiped and it gives people a "WOW" factor -
Don't have to have the biggest or brightest of everything -
But if we would take ONE area at a time in our athletic department and put the BEST we can possibly put into it, you would see more of these actions -
And I applaud Karl for getting something TANGIBLE out of his money, he made sure it went to hardware and was not used to cover some far flung deficit -
Next point of improvement should be getting the field turf and message boards -
Get the ex-footballers together and get the $350,000 needed to get the turf install - call it ALUMNI FIELD at JAS - just get it DONE!
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
$350 large should be easy with just the NFLers we still have actively playing.
I hope the administration noticed the "WOW FACTOR" that permiated throught out that article -
That's the part that concerns me. Do they notice? Do they care? Or do they even understand what it takes to get kids to totally commit to this football program?
Can't be said enough- THANK YOU KARL MALONE!Originally Posted by HogDawg

"The new equipment also doesn't hurt when it comes to recruiting. In today's recruiting world, athletes are just as concerned with facilities as they are with the scheme they will be playing under.
"When a team brings in a recruit, they see there is a commitment to them as a student athlete," McKnight said. "That's the No. 1 thing, when a kid gets off the plane he wants to know what you're doing with your strength and conditioning program. This legitimizes what we're trying to do with our kids." "
and once again .......Thank-You Karl!
This is the kind of publicity we need. Thanks, Karl! Are you seeing this, JO???
How true, How true, Cliff!!!! Now, if our athletic administration could see the advantage of treating our former athletes as human beings, and not like puppets to just be used and then forgotten about, we could do wonders with facilities and promotions. Many of our ex-athletes would be more than happy to help operate a phone bank to help raise funds if the administration would spend a little time and effort in expressing their gratitude to these former players for their contribution to La Tech Athletics!!!Originally Posted by DogsWin
