    add Southern home and away.

The Nebraska tourney consists of Nebraska, Tech, an Ivy League school (Yale - I think but dont' hold me to it), and a school that will join D1 this year. It's a roundrobin deal where you play three games.

    also @ UAB

Why do we keep going to UAB without a return game?

With the lack of interest and investment in basketball by our athletic department, nobody should complain if we finish under .500. Go Techsters!

    Re: Partial 2005-2006 Basketball Schedule

im giving richard the benefit of the doubt on this season. he has won 20 games before. the last few years he has won closer to 15 instead of 20. but he has more talent this year, and with smu, rice, utep, and tulsa leaving and we are adding idaho, nmsu, and utah st. (i know utah st. is really good and nmsu is pretty good), but i think the wac is a little weaker. plus we have a few home games this year in nonconference and some winnable, not too far away games on the road like southern, memphis, and uno.

im going with 11 and 5 in the wac. we lose at utah st., nevada, and either hawaii or fresno. we only lose two wac game at home to either fresno, nevada, or utah st.

we lose to texas tech and uab on the road and one out of memphis on the road, uno on the road, and ull at home. so 5-3 out of conference besides the nebraska tournament and the bracket buster game.

so thats 16-8 outside of the bracketbuster, the nebraska tournament, and the wac tournament. if we win the bracketbuster, one game in the nebraska tournament, and a first round wac game ( which richard has never won) he will have 19 wins and a good shot at hitting 20 again. i think he will at least get that 17th win, hopefully one or two more.

we have the talent and the schedule to do it. richard has to have a big year and i think he will.

I am sorry they aren't coming back to Hog city. They might finally be getting accustomed to the big crowd and handle it OK for a change.

    Texas Tech Men's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule for 2005 - 2006

Texas Tech a Regional Host for Coaches vs. Cancer Classic
    July 13, 2005

    LUBBOCK, Texas -

Fresh from their recent trip to the "Sweet Sixteen" in the 2005 NCAA Tournament, the Texas Tech Red Raiders will open their 2005-2006 season as regional hosts in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Thursday, November 10, against the Spartans of San Jose State at the United Spirit Arena.

The Coaches vs. Cancer Classic features 16 teams from across the country competing for the right to play for the tournament championship at Madison Square Garden. The event tips off the college basketball season as four of the nation's top-ranked teams host opening-round games: Texas Tech, Florida, Syracuse, and Wake Forest. Teams will battle to advance to "The World's Most Famous Arena" in New York City, where they will compete in the championship rounds of the tournament on national television.

In Lubbock, the winner of the Raiders and the Spartans game will face winner of game one between Portland and Georgia Southern. On November 11, the Second Round match-ups feature the Regional Consolation Game followed by the Regional Championship Game with the winner advancing to the semi-finals in Madison Square Garden on November 17. The Coaches vs. Cancer Classic Championship Round will be November 18 at the Garden.

The Raiders will host the Paladins of Furman University from Greenville, S.C., on November 23. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since 1954. Three days later, the first meeting between the Eagles of Morehead State from the Ohio Valley Conference and the Raiders will tip-off in the United Spirit Arena.

On Wednesday, November 30, Texas Tech will host the TCU Horned Frogs. Last season, TCU was 21-14 for the season and downed the Raiders in Fort Worth 83-68. TCU went on to the quarterfinals of the NIT.

Texas Tech travels to San Francisco on December 3 to face the USF Dons of the West Coast Conference. Last season, the Raiders downed the Dons 97-53 on New Year's Day, in Lubbock.

The Raiders return for two home games after the San Francisco trip. On December 7, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs from Ruston, La., visit the United Spirit Arena. The Raiders have a 5-1 record against the Bulldogs. The teams last met in 1982. The Broncs of Texas-Pan America from Edinburg, Texas, travel to Lubbock for the first time since 1991 for their match-up with the Raiders on December 10.

On December 17, the Tech squad will be in Las Vegas, Nev., as they face the Runnin' Rebels of UNLV for the first meeting between the two teams. Last season, the Mountain West Conference team was 17-14 and made the second round of the NIT.

Texas Tech will face Arkansas in the O'Reilly Christmas Classic at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on December 21. The Razorbacks of the Southeastern Conference were 18-12 last season and will be meeting the Red Raiders for the first time since the 1991 season.

After a two-season absence, the Raiders meet the Aggies of New Mexico State on December 29 in Las Cruces, N.M. The Raiders hold a 36-21 in the series and edged the Aggies 85-84 on December 21, 2002 in Lubbock.

Texas Tech closes out the non-conference portion of the 2005-2006 season with a match-up against the UTEP on January 1, 2006 at the United Spirit Arena. The Raiders downed the Miners 72-57 in El Paso, Texas, last season. The Miners were 27-8 for the season and fell to Utah 60-54 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

To become a season ticket holder or to purchase tickets for Men's Basketball games at the United Spirit Arena, please call (888) GO-BIG-12 or (806) 742-TECH or stop by the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office in the north end of Jones SBC Stadium.

    Re: Partial 2005-2006 Basketball Schedule

    2005-06 Schedule Announced
Bulldogs Open In John Thompson Classic At Nebraska

    June 30, 2005

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - An appearance in the John Thompson Classic in Lincoln, Neb., and four games against teams that reached the postseason last year, highlight the 2005-06 Yale men's basketball schedule. The Bulldogs play at Bucknell, which stunned Kansas in the first round of last year's NCAA Tournament, on Nov. 26 and also have matchups with defending Ivy League champion Penn (NCAA) and Rice (NIT) on the 29-game slate.

The season opens Nov. 18 against Louisiana Tech on the first day of the John Thompson Classic. Yale then plays Longwood and Nebraska. This marks the third time in the last four years that a tournament has started the season. In 2001-02 the Bulldogs played in the Guardians Classic and in 2003-04 they fell at No. 1 UConn in the preseason NIT.

Yale's 11-game home schedule begins on Nov. 28 against Sacred Heart. Other non-league teams visiting the John J. Lee Amphitheater include Wagner (Dec. 3), Hampton (Dec. 18) and Navy (Dec. 20).

The Bulldogs welcome in the new year in Texas, playing in the Flint-Hills Invitational in Corpus Christi on Dec. 29-30 before heading to Houston for a matchup with Rice on Jan. 2.

Ivy League play opens at home on Jan. 14 against Brown. The Bulldogs play three of their first four league games in the friendly confines of the Amphitheater and then close the regular season with home games against Penn and Princeton on Mar. 3-4.

"This year is no different than my previous five seasons at Yale," head coach James Jones said. "Our schedule is loaded with top notch programs that will help to prepare and test our team before the Ivy season begins."

    Other schedule notes:

    • The Bulldogs could play six opponents for the first time - Longwood, Nebraska, Hampton, James Madison, Savannah State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

    • Yale plays teams from nine conferences in addition to the Ivy League - WAC, Big 12, Patriot, Big East, NEC, America East, MEAC, CAA, MAAC.

    • The Bulldogs play four non-league games against New England schools, including the first matchup with Providence since the 1988-89 season.

    • Yale scrimmaged Wagner prior to the start of last season. This year, the two teams will play for real on Dec. 3 in New Haven.
