DF, you dont have to inform on how sell out Shreveport is as a whole, we all know. Sure, there are a few Tech fans there until they die, but for the most part, it is fair weather fans like you.

Ok maybe i exaggerate about USC.
yeah, like we said, they are fair weather fans-at best! By the way, 0-0 is not a winning record...not in anybodies mind.

Don't you think that a game during a holiday weekend in S'port,t say Thanksgiving Friday or Saturday, would be well attended? I think that if the students are home, bored and restless, wouldn't you think tailgating at the fair grounds would be just the ticket????? I know that I will have to be back in north Louisiana that weekend and if I had the choice between sitting at my Mother-in laws or going to a Tech game with my partners, I would be wearing blue in the stands!

If S'port is willing to subsidize the game, we can get a good regional mid-major (or even a U of L - Moan) then it could work and we would not have to sell our souls to travel to yet another BCS school!

I think Shreveport would make a good spot filler on a weekend when we think Ruston will be empty or we think the attendance will be very high. We would need that cash up front, though. I think it would be a win-win situation then. Thanksgiving is a very good time for this.

I say that we don't even try for a Shreveport game (regardless of the opponent) until we have improved the program such that it would be a competitive game. What good does it do to have a lot of people come out to see us play if we can't be competitive thru the entire game. I don't think that's the way to expand a fan base in North Louisiana.

If in years to come we have gotten the program to the level that we want it to be then people will want to see a Louisiana Tech game and this debate will be done.

In that instance it makes the most sense. But I still think it would have to be a pretty big name opponent to really put a lot of butts in the seats. If the attendence wouldn't be any more than in the Joe, I say keep the money in Ruston. If they would pay us up front and attendence would be up in the air because of a holiday, I guess it's a toss up.

I'm game, I had fun at the S-Port game, I'm just not sure it's the best thing to do until we build up our local crowd to a point where there is no question that we will have everyone who would've been in Ruston come to Shreveport.

    Johnny,

You let the possibility of the casinos, along with the hotels, etc. in S'port help convince a 'bigger' name to come, say a Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU or a Okla St.

Next year with the possibility of 13 games is perfect for this type of package. 5 - home games (4- conf. and 1- homecoming) in Ruston, 1- home game in S'port and 7 away games (4- conf. 2- BCS schools and NTU)........If Shreveport is really willing, it could make it happen given the right parameters.

That schedule sounds great to me. However, I'm afraid the powers that be could get a little greedy and just make us play more body-bag games. The schedule you described would be awesome. I'd love to play Baylor/TTech/Kentucky(a mid level BCS) if it would be well attended, I guess I just don't have much faith in Shreveport.
