South Carolina defender cleared to transfer to Grambling

Former South Carolina defensive lineman Moe Thompson got a judge’s permission to play football at Grambling State.
Thompson faces five counts of burglary-related charges after authorities say he and former teammate Kevin Mainord stole electronics out of two dorm rooms this past February. Thompson was dismissed from South Carolina by head coach Steve Spurrier.
"We want to get him ready to play for his last year," said GSU coach Melvin Spears. "Even as we speak, we are putting together a educational plan so that he can graduate in the next year or so."
Thompson would provide needed help for a defensive line that lost Kenneth Pettway to the NFL Draft last spring.
Thompson appeared before Circuit Judge James Barber this morning in Columbia, South Carolina. Thompson’s attorney asked Barber to change the conditions of the player’s bond so he could join Grambling’s football team.
Attorney Hemphill Pride gave Barber a letter from offering Thompson the scholarship.

Thompson free to enroll at Grambling

A Richland County judge agreed Friday to modify the bond conditions set on Moe Thompson, freeing the former USC defensive end to enroll at Grambling. Thompson, who faces five burglary-related charges stemming from a February dorm incident, declined comment as he left the courthouse, saying he had to take a final exam at Midlands Tech.
Fifth Circuit Court judge James Barber ruled that Thompson no longer has to wear an electronic tracking device on his ankle, but is required to check in once a week by telephone with a monitoring firm in South Carolina.
He is allowed to leave Louisiana, where the historically black college is located, only to return to South Carolina or to travel with the team for the Tigers' away games.
The 21-year-old Thompson faces 15 years to life in prison on his two first-degree burglary and three petit larceny charges. His next scheduled court date is Sept. 1, although Barber ruled that Thompson did not have to appear in court that day as long as he is available by phone.
Fifth Circuit deputy solicitor John Meadors said Thompson has until Oct. 22 to enter a plea or go to trial. Meadors told Barber the solicitor's office plans to try the case before the end of October if no agreement is reached.
Thompson, a former "Mr. Football" honoree from Goose Creek, will be eligible to play immediately for Division I-AA Grambling. Thompson was expected to leave for Louisiana on Friday after having his monitoring device removed. The Tigers' first practice is Monday.

Priorities in the judicial system have gone straight to the sh*ter.
"Judge I know that I am probably going to get a lengthy jail sentence, but can I play football one last time, I mean look at Ray Ray and OJ. Don't hate."

And LSU has reinstated steroids drug smuggler Shawn Jordan to their football team. Miles said Jordan has disciplined himself.
LSU Reinstates Jordan
LSU coach Les Miles said reserve fullback Shawn Jordan has rejoined the team. Jordan was suspended in May after his arrest for attempting to transport anabolic steroids across the U.S. border from Juarez, Mexico.
Miles said Jordan has been disciplined by himself and the team.
"He's back on board, doing the right things," the Tigers' first-year coach said. "We reviewed that situation very thoroughly. We looked at his background and really feel like it's an isolated incident and not one that will repeat itself."

Shaw was great. One of my childhood favorite Tech players.
