    One of you computer experts..

    This just started yesterday..........

Kept getting popups all of a sudden. Most of them looked like the official Microsoft Internet Explorer thing, but I had always just xd out of them and kept going. Well yesterday, I get one that says "your content is loading" and "Powered by Freeprod". It's porn! It loaded on to Media Player. I've removed almost every program I can remove, but now every time I get on the net, I get the popup and the download. I'm getting it as I type this. Any ideas?

    Click "Tools"

    Click "Internet Options"

In the box, look at your Home Page settings...I bet it changed them to the "Honey Hole"
I'm an asshole! What's your excuse?

    www.download.com

Go get SpySweeper, AdAware, and Spybot Search & Destroy. All are free for a time, and Spybot is free but asks for donations to keep it free. I also use a program called Slimbrowser instead of Windows Internet Explorer. In almost 3 years, I have only gotten 2 popups, and I was upset when I got those. Run those programs about once a week, and you should see your popups come to an almost dead stop.

Doc and Dan....It finally went away. I'm still not comfortable with my kids getting online though.

I did go in and change my homepage and I also updated my spyware and virus scans. Also increased my security settings. I'm still getting the microsoft popups. It is an HP system that has always been a piece of junk. Freezes up often. I'm just before using it for a fishing reef in the lake behind my house.

    Thanks for your help guys.

Another browser alternative: download Firefox and start using it. I suggest adding the IE View extension for the occasional web sites that still only run with IE specific code.

I haven't seen one popup using Firefox in well over a years use.

Also, some of the extensions like AdBlock and the Filterset.G updater will guarantee you won't see banner ads either. Worth the effort IMHO.

FireFox really seems to be taking hold. I've got it and use it a fair bit, but our Intranet site at work runs IE specific code. Where can I download the IE View extension? I'd like to try it out.

Also, all of our software here on BB&B is designed to be compatible with Firefox. If you run into any bugs with it, drop me a PM.

    I love Firefox.

I have noticed on the new "LaTech in the news"

the Line separating the news is to the Right of the story in Firefox and the line is below the Story in Explorer.

IE View - https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...info.php?id=35 all it does is give you a right click option to open a current page or link in IE. Its useful if Firefox is your main browser.

    Ad Block - https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...info.php?id=10
    Ad Block Filterset.G - https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...fo.php?id=1136

For Firefox newbies, just click on "Install now" on each of these pages. When you are done with them, restart Firefox.

Oh, to download Firefox - Free Download
