Maybe it's just because I'm tired... I can't remember ever going into prevent defense when losing.

After we had it first and goal from the 5 and wound up missing a FG from the 25, I decided I would get more enjoyment out of watching Colorado get smoked by a 4 win Kansas team. I wasn’t wrong.
35-14 Arkansas is a better outcome than we had any right to.
Hell, Kansas is the first team in FBS history to have a losing record and beat 3 straight ranked opponents. At least they have some fight.. Our defense has played pretty well all season and kept us in almost every game. The offense is shit! the head coach is the reason. Our defense is just worn slap out at this point and any good player on offense will be in the portal before they hit the showers next week.
I guess Tulsa has less tolerance for mediocrity that Jech does. (7-16 in two seasons vs 10-25 in three seasons)

I have some bad news AND some good news for LA Tech football fans.
Bad news first: Sonny Cumbie will be back for 2025. LA Tech will beat Kennesaw St next weekend, giving Sonny Cumbie --and LA Tech-- 5 wins for 2024. This win improvement alone --in conjunction with 3 OT losses this season-- will give Tech's leadership plenty of reasons to NOT make a coaching change this season. And we all know Tech's leadership like's to NOT make changes. Therefore, Sonny will be back for 2025.
Now, for the GOOD news: Evan Bullock is the man who will someday be remembered for saving Cumbie's job, and possibly his head coaching career.
Evan Bullock needs to put on about 20 lbs and hit the weight room this off season. He's got a big 6'5 frame, a good arm but he still has "high school kid" legs. He throws a pretty pass and has a nice touch on the ball. So far in 9 games this season, he's completed 66.3% of his passes for 1,708 yds, 14 TD's against only 2 INT's in 2024. Those are very good stats for any RS freshman, but especially for one who joined a team that only won 3 games last year. Bullock's "TD pass to INT" ratio is superb. He's not careless with the ball, but he has been hit a lot this season, hence his need to muscle up.
Bullock needs to work on throwing the ball down field more --even if it's a short throw to a TE over the middle, or a WR slant pass. Quit always looking for the "sideline" throw. (I hate those). Throw the short pass to Tru Edwards again on that crossing pattern over the middle that he burned NC State with! But as Bullock matures as a college QB, he'll learn this stuff quickly as the game slows down for him in year 2. Unless something really weird happens, Bullock should get a lot better, real fast, next season.
If LA Tech can hang on to Tru Edwards (and Bullock) next season, I expect Bullock to improve substantially, and pass for over 3,000 yds in 2025. Oh....and Sonny Cumbie to still be employed here in 2026.
Every coach needs a ticket, and with 3 years of eligibility left, Evan Bullock is Sonny Cumbie's ticket.
They did remove the volleyball coach recently. Not sure if she was "fired" or if her contract was not renewed LA Tech Announces Change in Leadership for Volleyball - LA Tech Athletics (latechsports.com)
I like Bullock’s potential and can see him being very successful if he can work on his body and get some serious off season coaching. He definitely doesn’t need any more Crumbie in his head. Bullock needs someone far more advanced and aggressive. Crumbie coaches scared, too defensive and too predictable. In those regards he’s Holtz’s less capable redheaded step child following in his unsuccessful footsteps.
All I keep asking myself when it comes to Sonny Cumbie is what has he done in these 3 seasons all around to make anyone think that he deserves one more season?
Thank you and Go Dawgs
Absolutely we can't take this Owls team lightly their record doesn't to me indicate how good or bad they are. While their win loss record doesn't indicate it since firing their previous HC Brian Bohannon they've been in every game taking Sam Houston to OT, beating an FIU team we lost to and need I mention the fact they beat an undefeated at the time Liberty when they were a 28.5 underdog. So while I think Tech can get the W I do think they will have their hands full on Saturday.
