I think EKU is the best of the three teams we're playing in this Gulf Coast thingy. Another toughie, to be sure. Go Dawgs!
Based on the first 2 games and against EKU. I do not feel we are as good as I thought. We will see after the game today.
Dawgs hold on 78-69 - only played 8 players today.
Dawgs win! Only hit 13 of 21 FTs, 61%. Made it harder on ourselves than it had to be. Also had some turnovers down the stretch. But, EKU is a decent team, so this is a good win. Swept thru the Gulf Coast Showcase, WAY TO GO DAWGS!!!

Can't look past Southern. One game at a time. SU led Texas A&M by 16 points before collapsing and losing, but shows they are capable of playing some good ball.
Then...a BIGGIE!...at Memphis. Whoa!
This is another good win for the Bulldogs.
FYI, Tech just beat 3 very good men's basketball programs --who combined-- have made 30 NCAA Tournament appearances since LA Tech last made an appearance.
- Richmond has made 10 NCAA Tournament appearances (1989, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2023) since LA Tech has.
- EKU has made 3 NCAA Tournament appearances (2005, 2007 & 2014) since LA Tech has.
- Southern Illinois has appeared in 17 NCAA Tournaments, and made 9 NCAA Tournament appearances (1993, 1994, 1995, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007)) since LA Tech has.
Pretty soon EVERY Division I school would have made the NCAAs since Tech last did. That was in 1991, as I recall.
. And we have had teams that were SO much better than half of them. I am loving this season, but we have to work for a seed in our own tournament and actually win it to get in the tournament. If we keep winning, we may have a chance at our rpi being high enough to get in with a loss in the finals. Anyway, all that matters now is that we are 8-0 and need to win the next game. This team is SO exciting to watch!!!!!!

LOL. I did mean 7-0, but you will never find me predicting a loss. If I predict a loss, I have to feel bad about it before it even happens. If I predict a win, I get joy from that before it even happens.
