Not a good way to start the season.
Poorly written headline. It makes it sound like Tech lost game #1 on it's schedule, the very first game it played this season.
It should say "Tech Suffers First Loss of the Season". Or, "Tech Suffers First Loss of the Season After a Fast Start". Or something like that.
absolutely right. Went the game. We just we couldn't get in sync as a team. Southern played a solid game. They had a great game plan. I feel the guys trip to Florida took a toll. Daniel played great. Newman played his usual solid game. We just do not have any depth. Those 3 close games in Florida took their toil.Originally Posted by HogDawg

We should NEVER lose to a SWACer. Period.
It's going to be quite a swing when we go from losing to Southern to beating Memphis within just a few days.

I think once we have more than an 8-man rotation, we'll be fine (for C-USA games). I don't think this is WHY we lost to Southern (most of the turnovers were early)
11/25 (OT game) - 3 players had 40+ minutes - 9 players played (1 for 2 minutes)
11/26 - 4 players 32+ minutes - 8 played
11/27 - better distribution of minutes (only 1 player had 30 minutes) - 8 played
11/30 - 2 played 30+ (Batcho played 36 - Will Allen only played 4) - 8 played
For the season, we've had 12 players average 7+ minutes. Jeffress is out for the season, averaged 24 minutes w/ 8pt/7reb).

How bad is the SWAC, you ask? Well, right now the league is a combined 25-83 in non-conference games, with Southern at 4-4 the only team without a losing record. And they should be 3-5.
I am seeing post on the CUSA board about the prospects of Tech having a great year or something. Nope, sorry fellows, ain't happening. We lost to a SWACer, that is really all you need to know about the quality of our team. We have Batcho and absolutely nothing else. I think we will struggle to a winning record in CUSA, maybe 10-8 or something close to that, because CUSA sucks too.
Hope SPRINGS eternal, and I suppose we can all HOPE in the Spring the Diamond Dawgs can salvage an otherwise horrendous year of Tech athletics. But, I ain't placing too much hope on that either.
