It's more than X's and O's. It's schmoozing alumni, talking to CHAMPS groups, answering your critics on your radio show, eating fried catfish at the Minden Optimist club each week, etc.

Conroy has never gotten anything accomplished unless he had Rattay, Edwards, McCown, or Moats on the field. A good coach will get the best out of his players - even if they are not NFL caliber.
If you don't think conroy has gotten the best out of kubick you don't know much about football. just ask the leader of the board S-14! It is up to the head coach to motivate the players!

I know travel expenses are greater in the WAC, but if we were in the Belt we would take a huge hit with revenue sharing, payouts for ncaa basketball tourneys, and fewer bowl tie-ins. This subject has been discussed on this board numerous times in the past. However, I am by no means a "numbers" guy so I'm not about to go into all the details with money and budgets-I'll let the experts handle that.
We can win the sun belt in basketball in both men's and women's division which gives us the tournament money, We cannot win the wac in basketball for men. we have better attendance at home basketball games because we will be playing natural rivals like USL,ASU, and NLU that will bring some folks. we should be able to win the football division every year as well and go to a bowl every year which gives us more revenues. Winning will increase support in every aspect plus outside of fresno and boisie no one around here gives a rip about PLAYING THE OTHER WAC TEAMS! At least with the sun belt we know people from other sun belt schools that we can haze and give a hard time to. We will not have to fly all our sports teams all over the world to compete which is going to bank rupt the athletic department anyway. Quit wasting time and join the sun belt today. The only other option is conference usa and they do not want us.
AND TECH FANS CAN TRAVEL TO AWAY GAMES IN THE SUN BELT
1. SunBelt men's bball teams aren't as bad as you think.
2. Not real sure Wright Waters would welcome us in.
3. The same admin. that is screwing things up now would still be screwing things up then.
4. Going back to the Sunbelt is just admitting that we are small time and will never be anything else. Apparently our admin. thinks so and more than a few fans agree. If dominating small-time is your goal, sunbelt is your conference.
Sunbelt is a last resort and should only be treated as such.

I gotta disagree with you here. A good coach would put someone else in more talented and do more on offense IMO. It is obvious Kubik hasn't gotten it done but that is not all his fault. Why do you think they have stuck with Kubik all season if he is holding them back? It doesn't make sense to me. I'd have at least given Champion at shot to prove something. We have all known, based on last year, what Kubik could do, which isn't a whole lot.
He has done nothing. Our offense is too predictable. We change nothing, there is no imagination. We run a one back set with the back 8 yards deep. We don't develop QB's. How about a full back, how about some two back sets, how about some different formations, how about adjustments......the list goes on and on and on. I have heard this from alumni that are "real football people." I have also heard this from friends who have watched us on TV. They continually ask what is up with our predictable, boring offense.
Maybe he would be a good head coach, but the offense is a joke right now. Every coach at Tech should be thankful for Luke McCown and Ryan Moats. I shutter to think what we would have done w/out them.
Here is another scarry thought: What would our records be over the past years if Bicknell had not had all Crowtons boys? Yikes
Conroy did a decent job of running Crowton's offense with Crowton's recruits. Now, he's finding out that without GC's guys, he can't get it done. He's like a 9 year old playing play-station. He spends the first quarter figuring out what will work...because of this, we see some creativity in the first quarter. By the second quarter, he's got it figured out...so we usually take a lead in the second half (Idaho, Boise, Nevada, it's not a lead but we made it close in Kansas)...then comes the dreaded half-time. The other coach has Conroy figured out and we never adjust at all. We run whatever worked in the second quarter (like the PA pass) and when the defense stops it, the other team comes back in the third quarter, then they close the game out in the fourth. Look at all our losses (minus Florida) and you'll see that this is how it's been going down.

Bigdog28 is a prime example of what is wrong with La. Tech, The good ol' boy network. "Nothing wrong with him because he is a good ol' boy, one of us, and my friend." That and the fact that he is an lsu hack pecker puller like many of our other alumni.
CHC-I did NOT have high praise for ANY of our QB's coming out of spring practice. I am NOT the leader of the board (as indicated by BD 28 )--we ALL know that our UNDISPUTED leader is HD! All that said, I am praying, praying HARD, that we do NOT get embarrassed on ESPN2 tomorrow night! All of the odds are lined up against us---way out in CA, a team bent on revenge from last year's bitter defeat---a team that does NOT want to go to the Liberty Bowl with 3 consecutive defeats---all that adds up to them wanting to give us a severe beating.

You loved Conroy last year when we beat Fresno, he has done a good job. As far as Crowton's players give me a break. Crowton did well with Peace's players and everyone was ready to run his butt off once we got to his players. He recruited bad. No defense whatsoever. Peace was the head coach when Rattay signed.
It is not just Conroy that recruits, it is the entire staff. Players come to the school usually for the head coach, facilities, number of times on National tv, shemes you run, etc...
Quit trying to make Conroy the scape goat--you need to start with the administration and work your way down.
