If we are in the MCB, we've played Akron before ...

This is from the Tech media guide. I was at this game and don't ever remember being colder.

    1968 Grantland Rice Bowl
    NCAA Division II
    Mideast Region Championship
    Bulldogs 33, Akron 13
    December 14 at
    Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Playing in the school’s first bowl game,
    the Bulldogs battled sub-freezing temperatures
and the Akron Zips but came out with a 33-13
    victory.
The Bulldogs didn’t waste any time scoring,
tallying three touchdowns in the first quarter.
Quarterback Terry Bradshaw picked up the
first score on a 16-yard run. Moments later,
Bradshaw hit Tommy Spinks on a 36-yard pass
to give the Bulldogs a second touchdown.
Fullback Buster Herren added a third score on a
2-yard run to give Tech a 21-0 lead early in the
    game.
Akron picked up a touchdown in the second
quarter as the Zips trailed 21-7 at halftime.
The Zips moved within eight points in the third
quarter when they scored their second touchdown
of the game, making the score 21-13.
But the Bulldogs toughened up in the
fourth quarter, scoring twice on plays led by
Bradshaw. On the first score, Bradshaw shook
off several Akron tacklers and hit tight end
Larry Brewer on a 6-yard scoring strike. Later
in the quarter, Bradshaw scored again on an 8-
yard run to close out the scoring.
    Bradshaw led the Bulldogs offensively,
completing 19-of-33 passes for 261 yards and
two touchdowns. The young quarterback also
led the team in rushing, collecting 35 yards on
12 carries for another two scores. Spinks led
the receivers with 12 receptions for 167 yards
    and one touchtown.

I think we played Akron sometime around '93 or '94 in Ruston. Jerry Faust was their head coach then, and I believe we won the game.

We beat Akron in 1990 too, something like 31-10. Remember Eric Shaw tossing around the Akron players like they were ragdolls. He dominated that night.

Another interesting note: Akron was the very first university to make the transition from 1-AA to 1-A. Louisiana Tech was the second.

I do too. Actually, I think we would dominate Akron if we play the way we're supposed to.
