Are we still out of Fort Worth for sure?
Are we still out of Fort Worth for sure?
The LSU and Virginia Tech losses combined were the last straw. There was extreme pressure by the Pac 10 on the Fiesta Bowl to take Oregon, and those losses took that option away much to the Fiesta committee's relief.
Memphis had been the frontrunner for Detroit for the last week...that was too much to overcome.
No shock here.. We don't travel well. In fact, we don't have a good fan base at home either.
don't wanna hear that right now Finn. Im sure we would have brought as many as MemPiss.
Actually, we travel very well!
We travel better than most CUSA schools. Our home attendance hurts, but not our road one.Originally Posted by finndawg
Nope. This means that Ohio State got in the BCS. So Oregon doesn't get in. Las Vegas goes to pac10. Nevada to Hawaii.Originally Posted by steltz
Hawai'i Bowl chance was gone when both Virginia Tech and LSU lost...no chance Oregon could be picked for the BCS with Ohio State getting an automatic at-large selection.Originally Posted by steltz

Fort Worth has no opening...CUSA vs Big 12 as contracted originally. And New Mexico had the available bid that didn't materialize locked up.Originally Posted by SummaCumDoggie
Everyone talking about records still don't get it. Bowls are about money. A 6-5 player with the best runningback in the country in his last game will always draw attention of the bowls. We lost to Deangelo Williams. It is that simple. Our Fresno game gave them something to think about but a 7-4 team beating a top 25 team isn't enough. I feel the Tulane deal should have been enough to give us marketability but the final straw was location.
Houston accepted the Fort Worth Bowl spot at 2:00 this afternoon.
Are you telling me that DeAngelo Williams is better than Reggie Bush?? Your Wrong.
I am saying that but I will rephrase it. The best SENIOR runningback.Originally Posted by steltz
I am in shock. I really thought that we would get in. I know that the Boise game hurt us bad and, at that time, did not think we would get an invite. However, after defeating Fresno on National TV AND completely dominating them, this is pretty ridiculous.
I know that bowls are about money, but CUSA teams don't travel much better than we do, if at all. This was like spitting in our face, in my opinion.
