If you just compare bandwidth, then Infomercials are what... 40% of popular culture.

    2) Has anyone on this board said the Fox News is liberal? If so, they should be flogged. Fox News is the only channel that is slanted right. I believe there is no such thing as "fair and balanced".

If you really believe that popular culture is slanted to Republicans, you are far gone.
I try to avoid watching the regular TV channels like ABC, CBS, etc. I get satellite and usually watch AMC or mystery channel.

However, I won't deny that most TV is programmed by the folks in Hollywood and NYC, and I'm sure that they make negative comments about the current President in the sit-coms. But that is not to say that the news reporting is slanted to the Democrats because it isn't. If anything, the TV news folks have given GWB mostly a free ride. So, in the over-all scheme of things, I can't see any merit in the conservatives' mantra that "Mass Media" is liberal. Secular, yes.

TV is a big wasteland for the most part. They will cover any issue--liberal or conservative--that will give them ratings.

Can you name one "paranoid conspiracy theory" that he stated?

The reason why you are having trouble responding to his posts is because his arguments have many components to them that fit together nicely but individually you are unable to dissect them.

You are right, TV believes that "If it bleeds, it leads." That being said, conservatives are in power and thus have "more blood to bleed." The party in power, especially when in control of 2 arguably 3 thirds of the government, more spotlights point in their direction.

Enough of defending the media, in the past month I have seen letters and tokens of gratitude brought back from Iraq. The media doesn't care about these stories, they don't bleed. They are only interested in showing how bad things are.

Let's see, the Jeb and Scalia comment was queer and please stop bitching about the Electoral College. I dont like it either, but it did save us from Gore. His big Oil Interests crap and that is why oil is so high. Right, China demanding more and more every day isnt helping much either. Not to mention, we still pay much less per gallon than many Euro countries who drive economy cars, unlike us in the US who have to drive huge trucks and Hummers and crap. I always love how a liberal blows on the rich constantly for their status in America. Sorry, they have money, but that is the American way. We arent socialist, and it is bunk that rich folks have to "shoulder" more load anyway.
Oh yeh, Spinoza, are you serious with that intelligence post? That was the dumbest crap I have ever read.

Very good, DH. But his comment about big oil and Bush/Cheney being tied to them is 100% right even if the tied in to high gas prices is not that evident. He was comenting on the lack of an alternative energy solution to combat our insane dependence on imported oil. GWB's policy is just more of the same old, same old thinking that means putting tons of $$$$$$ in the pockets of George's friends.

Who says we HAVE to drive big HUmmers and huge trunks??

I don't knock the rich because i would be knocking myself, but his point is that MOST AMERICANS don't realize wtf is going on... Progressive taxation is the best long-term income tax system and the rich will get richer even with that taxation system.

Of course we are a "socialist" country.....have been since the Hoover disaster. I don't fault you for not knowing since you were born and raised in a socialist country that calls itself a capitalistic utopia. Another illusion created by the mass media.

OK. At least I have you saying that popular culture is pro-Democrat. I thought I was gonna have to look up the entertainment for for the Conventions. Black Eyed Peas and U2 for Dems and Toby Keith and Superior Avenue Baptist Choir for the Reps.

Bush has never been given a free ride. It's so funny to hear liberals say such things. Look at the biggest news stories of the last 6 years. 9/11 is barely keeping off "no WMDs" and "Failure of War in Iraq". The media has definitely held President Bush accountable for his actions. You must have gotten Mrs. Clinton and the President mixed up.

I don't know how many independant polls have to come out that say over 80% of reporters vote Democrat before you guys think that means something. But maybe that is a story for another day.

dhuss pretty much covered it. i know you agree with his conspiracy theories, but its not worth arguing with when it is not supported by fact (he doesn't even make an attempt at factual support).

Salty, believe me, I know how 'socialist' this country is and it pisses me off. That is exactly my point and why I say those things because we have turned away from our roots. Politicians have control of way too much money, when they have no incentive to be resposible with it. Politicians only a resposibility is to get more votes and they will do that by throwing more money around. In other words, we need to get rid of a lot of this bureaucracy that is hurting our nation. In between Public Pensions, Welfare, Social Security, believe me salty, I know we are Socialist.

As for the Oil Industry, you always blow on GWB and Cheney. you always act like Cheney is getting a cut of the money, when everyone knows he had to get rid of all interest in Halliburton before he took office. So, Halliburton got the contracts, it aint much different than Shaw getting all of the contracts in LA with the damn president being the chairman of the Dem Party until recently. Nobody has come up with a viable alternative to replace oil, so please put that burden on everyone not just GWB.
