I'll ask T for a clarification when I see him. There was a period he was in limbo, and I don't think he had much authority to do much of anything at that time. But, it is a good question, and I will get an answer for you when I see him.

As an outsider, that would be my guess. If they had already made up there minds to dump him, then they wouldn't want him signing anybody. JMO.

You're probably right. He could have left the program in a real bind by signing some inexperienced unranked players. Wait, that was done later by the current coach. Nevermind.

Beder referred to them as the "Techsters". Wrong! The "Techsters" haven't suffered any cuts. They are our flagship program.... The one bringing in all the national prominence.

So Tech can't play matches on their own tennis courts but Ruston High can? SawRuston and Airline playing there today.

Not when the opposing team refuses.

Soonerdawg, your timeline and facts about the time since Brian left are pretty acurate. The courts were supposed to be resurfaced the summer of 1999 before my daughter got there that fall. The cost for resurfacing 10 courts has held pretty stable at 25-30k since the mid nineties and those courts would be fine on about a 5 year rotation. I've always said that dressing up the hill of the north side would give you a TCU type feel without spending big money to watch, cook, etc. Five courts can be viewed from that side and certainaly the three doubles matches. Once again Oakes gives an excuse for not hiring a coach that is one more lie that not very many can question!!! You do not have to have a men's team to have a fulltime coach. That is BS! Check out the teams you say you want to compete against in the WAC and those in Conference USA. Now if it is the weak Southland Conference tennis teams and some of the Division III teams in Texas you are trying to hire like,(not all are near this bad) he might be speaking some truth. He just needs to be called on just about everything he gives as an excuse. Guess the field turf could be used on the courts for an English feel. Keep calling him out because every sport gets it from him in some way.

At least we have in writing a quote from JO stating that the courts will be resurfaced this summer. Let's see if it gets done.

Tech Buildings and Grounds can mow acres of grass, spray barrels of Round-up and plant pretty flowers . . . BUT they can't mow down the weeds at the tennis courts. . . or shoot them with some Roundup?
WHO runs "buildings and dirt" now anyways (er, Campus Facilities).

Go to the ncaa.org website and you will start finding lots of tennis job openings posted from now to mid summer. One today caught my eye--Clayton State-Division II- in the stud Peach something conference-full time women's coach. On the ITA college tennis website UT Pan America needed a part-time assist for $10,000( Probably more than Tech pays a HEAD) The list and the examples will grow and be varied in the next two months. Were any of Tech's past openings posted on these two web sites? NAAAA. Look at the experience of college coaching experience these people ask for--he probably never cared about that being on a resume-if he even got resumes. Sooner--get on, get off-nobody gets hurt-tell her good job.

Anyone up for a Banner with his quote to hang from that fence surrounding the JOE???

Are we going to have to jump in at some point and put grass killer in the Quad that says "Fire JO"?? Would he really let those sorry internet guys actually take care of those courts because he's so fu*@$in' lazy to do it himself?

Now all we need to do is get Beder to write about the pitiful condition of our track facility. Let's keep JO's feet close to the fire, embarrassment through the media appears to be the only way you can get his attention or any action.

Should we bring up the topic of an ad in the paper again?
