Maybe we're suing him for loss of prestige.
Did he have any years left on his contract? I'm right across the street from the Lincoln Parish Courthouse. If things slow down here this afternoon, I might send somebody to go get a copy of the petition to see what it is about.
If it is about the rest of his contract, we may want to be careful. They may send him back.

We have a copy of the petition. Louisiana Tech is asking for stipulated damages in the amount of $100,000. Here are the interesting paragraphs:
"Budke was previously employed with Louisiana Tech as its Head Women's Basketball Coach. On May 1, 2003, Budke executed an employment contract with Louisiana Tech that had a term of five (5) years, concluding on June 30, 2008. The employment contract set forth Budke's salary for each year of the contract, with each contract year beginning July 1 and ending June 30 of the following year. ...
Paragraph 9 of the employment contract addresses issues relating to the early termination of the employment contract and states in part: 'In the event Coach Budke terminates the contract without cause in the first two years of the contract, Coach Budke will be liable to the University for liquidated damages in the amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100.000).' This provision is valid and enforceable under Civil Code article 2012."

I am not sure, but I think that the other school has been known to buy the contract out. I am sure Budke will be talking to OSU about that. :icon_wink

No to lsu (you were not going to get that statement by on me :icon_wink ), but we don't have to keep him in athletics either. I am sure that we have some openings cleaning out stalls at Tech Farm.
it took us like 5 years to get the money for Crowton contract when he left tech for the Bears. IN other words, this happens all the time.
OSU will foot the bill i am sure
