Now I did have the opportunity to drive one at Texas Motor Speedway. That had to be one of the biggest thrills in my life. The car beside me actually through up some pavement (or maybe it was a piece of a tire) and it hit me in the face and made me bleed. Battle wound! If you ever get a chance to do that, don't pass it up!

I thought the same thing and then I gave it a chance and ended up going to Charlotte. Since then, I have toured Gibbs facilities twice and sat on top of a pit box for a happy hour practice.

Go to a race, any race, and you will be hooked. Its not for everyone, but don't knock it before you try it.

To all the NASCAR naysayers..........Just give it a chance. Watch the last 50 laps or so. Pay attention to what the announcers say about the fuel, tires, and pit times, and when to pit. It may take a race or two to REALLY get into it, but these guys (pit crews and drivers) are great athletes.

Also, you won't see any dancing around, chest beating, crotch grabbing, or self promotion among these guys. It is the fastest growing sport in America and refreshing after watching the NFL.

It might bother some of you that Bryant Gumble is no fan.
