i kind of hope we get the shaft, all they down to a #12 seed. that would give us a good chance of getting to the sweet 16, by upsetting the #4 and #5 seed. then we can get a good sweet 16 matchup with a #1 seed, hopefully in a good timeslot on espn or espn2.

How in the world does he think they will get a #4 or 5 seed? You would have to think that the committee just goes off of polls. We all know that this is not the case.

Santoria Black, part of the Fox & Co. team, follows this bracketology stuff pretty closely. He says it is unlikely the Techsters will get better than a 10 seed. He doesn't sound like he thinks that's fair, but it is what it is.

I agree with him on both counts:

    1. That is what they will probably get
    and
    2. It isn't fair

I think 9 is as high as the Techsters can get even with the WAC tournament. Bottom line, being in the WAC has hurt this team's RPI since we joined it. Until this conference gets stronger top to bottom, Tech will need to keep playing tough OOC games and win them in order to keep the RPI respectable. IMO.

I agree. Even losing to a top rpi team is better than beating a low rpi team in this system.

    Re: #4 or #5 Seed?

The eight first and second round site hosts are....

DePaul (Allsate Arena) RPI 12 but lost in Big East semis
    Colorado (Pepsi Center, Denver)...Big 12 #11 seed
    Vanderbilt (Memorial Gym) RPI 39
Arizona (McKale Center) not in tournament
ODU (Ted Constant Convocation Center) RPI 19
Rider/MAAC (Sovereign Bank Arena, Trenton, NJ) not in tournament
Penn State (Bryce Jordan Center) not in tournament
    Purdue (Mackey Arena) RPI 22

4 hosts almost certainly not in the tournament, and none of the other four likely higher than a 3 seed at the absolute best.

An 8 or 9 seed to me would be a bigger shaft this year than a 10-12 seed, so don't be surprised for Tech to get an 8 or 9 next Monday if it wins out in Reno.

Any idea of what is keeping us from getting a bid for a first-second round host? Is it the same reason as what is keeping us from getting BCS schools from playing in JAS?

I think hotel rooms hurt our chances. There is no reason on earth, though, that we should not be trying to get the bid using the CenturyTel Center in Bossier. We could go in together with ULM and Northwestern, if we needed to do that. I know that Texas Tech and Texas went in together last year for the Dallas site.

I heard that ruston was getting a couple of new hotels. Not saying that it would sway us hosting, but just wanted to bring it up.

Ruston no longer meets the mandated requirements necessary to host -

Like Champ said - the CenturyTel Center in Bossier is there for the taking - if we wanted to bid $$$,$$$ -

We need to get the tournament somewhere close to home. I still remember the 1st year we have 1st-2nd round in the TAC. It was the Lady Techsters, Penn State, Ohio State, and somebody else. That was some of the best women's b-ball I have seen and that girl form Penn State could play some ball, but of course the Lady Techsters sent everybody home with losses. I think that was the year we went to the Elite 8 also.

The greatest NCAA WBB ever in the TAC was the 1984 regional semifinals and finals...
